Can someone tell me the benefits of being cracked? Because so far all I can think of is logging in as other people and playing cracked Minecraft (which people shouldn’t be doing anyways).

Letting people who don't own premium minecraft play Cracked Minecraft is technically illegal, and I don’t condone piracy so I’m still objecting. If you play Minecraft, you should have a premium account.

I vouch, as it was a feature that lived up to the name "Total Freedom". It gave the players the novelty to login as whoever they liked (In the non-malicous terms like famous players)

Well here's a thing to consider going forward the shop is entirely UUID, and with the server being in online mode I can't just get their UUID now because now it's different. I also can't make a bunch of calls to Mojang's api because I'm pretty sure I'd get rate limited pretty fast.
Luckily I left a useless username field in the shop data so i'll just make a python script to grab the username from the file and rename it to the username.
The massive issue is with the name changing shit is having to load all the data into memory. I might convert to an sql database with a centralized entry. Perhaps I'll break it out more. Video suggested it, I was being a stingy fuckhead about it, maybe it's time I actually do it lol. For now I'll convert all the current shop data (which is easy af) and then I'll make an sql db so ip checking can be possible. It'll be a big change to TFM thats for sure, but nothing I can't handle.

What about plots? I never wrote the plugin so no one thought about that before voting. Guess admins will have to be tasked with moving plots. These were the reasons why I switched to online mode regardless of what the community said: - Less prone to ban bypassers - Plots will be lost in the event someone does turn on onlinemode (right now we're gonna have to start over with plots) - With onlinemode being on, we can move away from ip & name checking, and instead move onto UUIDs as demonstrated with the shop system - Imposing as people would be impossible without getting their account passwords - We are less prone to spambots unless they use a premium account pool - theres others but i cant think of them right now the only real pro to cracked mode is letting people who didnt buy the game join, which means yeah more players but at what cost, now we're re-introducing the previous problems we had. Which is fine with me because in the end it's not my fault for re-introducing it, so I'll sleep at night just fine. But hey! history! this is a feature that has been a part of tf for so long you can't get rid of it even if it's for the betterment of the server! totalfreedom: home of conservatism

Solution #2 - Re'add UUID's into TFM One of the biggest changes in TFM 5.0 was the removal of the UUID system. It was written in something like 4.2 or 4.3 (I forget). There were many problems with it.

I thought modifying plugins for our needs was kind of this server's thing. Well here's a thing to consider going forward the shop is entirely UUID, and with the server being in online mode I can't just get their UUID now because now it's different. I also can't make a bunch of calls to Mojang's api because I'm pretty sure I'd get rate limited pretty fast. You might want to have a look at github.com/Electroid/mojang-api, I've had good experiences even completely spamming that service. They cache everything on their end so you don't have to.

That’s a false equivalence, and I never said that. People who don’t have a premium Minecraft will use a pirated copy of the game to play, which is illegal. Offlinemode exists as a fallback if the authentication servers are down, so people could still play.

Letting people who don't own premium minecraft play That's one of the benefits. It also (And IMO More importantly) allows people to login as whoever. That used to be one of the major popularity factors of the server, that people could login as famous you-tubers, or notch and shit like that... To say it's only used by people who don't own the game is probably not quite the truth, though that will certainly be a factor.
