For those of you who haven't been keeping up to date with current events, here's the latest threat-to-humanity:
It's called the "Wuhan Coronavirus" and is defined as the following:
Coronavirus; Coronaviruses cause diseases in mammals and birds, and upper respiratory disease in chickens. In humans, the virus causes respiratory infections, potentially lethal.
It originated in a town called "Wuhan", in a market selling exotic delicacies.
The FAA is rerouting flights in conjunction with the CDC's requirements to screen all international flights from the region. US medical staff are on high alert as we are in the midst of a large travel season for the Chinese.
The US has done everything in its power to screen, and if necessary, contain, every likely contaminated person.
Unfortunately, just today (1/24), one got through...

As of 1/24)
26 people in China have died, and over 800 have been infected.
7 Cities, and over 26 million people quarantined.
* As of 1/27)
81 people have died, "2100" have been confirmed infected (Chinese GOV'T is suspected to be massively under reporting)
Western researchers estimate that there could already have been over 100,000 people infected.
35 million Chinese residents have now been quarantined.

5 confirmed cases in the US
While 60 additional US residents are currently being tested
Last year, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security modeled what might happen if a coronavirus outbreak reached the U.S., and found it could kill 65 million people.

UPDATE:
This virus has the potential to be dangerous, if it is able to spread in its asymptomatic period.
As of now, we don't know whether or not it's able to do that.
The SARS virus of the early 2000's was able to be contained, due to many reason, a big one of which, however, was the fact that it wasn't able to spread in its asymptomatic stage. We then were able to test individuals for fevers, shortness of breathe, etc., effectively ruling out who was infected and not. If this virus is alike the SARS, we should be relatively okay. However, again, if it is not, we could potentially be in a dangerous situation.
Nonetheless, this situation starkly reminds me of that classic mobile game "plague", all over again.
* First person account of someone currently trapped inside Wuhan, the center of China's quarantined zone, and the birthplace of the outbreak:
Stay safe, wash your hands (IF CURRENTLY IN A CONFIRMED OUTBREAK CITY (IN THE US ESPECIALLY), BUY BUY BUY A MASK, SEE LINKS BELOW FOR A CONFIRMED SAFE MASK)...
* CDC recommended, and relatively inexpensive mask to protect against the spread of the virus
The CDC recommends you buy a mask with the specification of "N95".
*DO NOT BUY A MASK WITHOUT THIS SPECIFICATION*
