My mother had to be tested for it yesterday. It's starting to look more and more likely that she does have it. Results will show up in 4 days.

Btw wouldn't it be a good idea to sticky this thread so we don't have a multitude of different Corona threads?

I've stickied it but if someone wants to make a new Coronavirus mega thread, I'll sticky that I think this thread's coolest factor is that it's dated. It was created when the virus had first gotten its first few cases in Wuhan. I say we leave it, and I'll instead edit day by day updates like I had done months ago.

It's not very easy to keep up with 7 pages, if you or someone else wants to make a megathread and keep updating it based on most recent events, go ahead (I myself don't want to do that). It can be the same as this one but with fresh conversation in replies

"the latest threat-to-humanity:" lmao. Oh how times have changed. I still won't call it a 'threat to humanity', but yeah, my tone has definitely changed. This graph is based on stats from John Hopkins Since the graph is on a log-scale, it's very easy to see which countries have an accelerating amount of infected. Pink line: Denmark, which has since the 16th of March closed all borders to foreigners, unless they have a 'good' reason for travelling into the country. Bottom Cyan line: South Korea who got hit pretty hard in the early stages of the outbreak, but has since recovered, and are in a much better state. Dark blue: Spain = fucked as much as Italy tbh. Upper Cyan line: China, who is in a much better position compared to the start of the outbreak. They recently got surpassed in total number of infected persons. Yellow line: Italy, who are still pretty fucked, but not compared to the last country on this chart. USA: I wish all all Americans a healthy recovery

It looks like there is a possibility greater than zero that what I had a few weeks ago may have been Covid-19. I didn't even think about it until someone I know suggested it. I had similar symptoms, but disregarded it since my area was not being shut down at the time. Not going to lie... its kind of scary to realize that you may have been contributing to the spread of this nasty virus.

I just stumbled upon this thread once again, and I hope it's okay I bump it, since this is still highly relevant (and is located in Deep Discussion). It's just super interesting to see how our viewpoints have changed since the start of this pandemic. But I think we can all say that it was easy as shit to predict the USA was going to be fucked.

My original viewpoint from January is certainly wrong but for that I blame the fact that governments and the WHO initially downplayed the virus, in America intentionally so, because members of Congress and the President were internally briefed on it and the general consensus which was false was "it's isolated to China."

Yeah. From what I recall (and what I can observe from this thread), was that this was simply going to be another ebola-trip, which would have next-to-no consequences on the western hemisphere.
