People like me who have static ips don't get the benefit of getting an ip changed upon restarting a router. Clicking on links also isn't the only way to get an ip here, ips are logged when you join the server, so anyone with access to the logs can get it. If you really want to prevent yourself from getting DDoS'd simply buy a VPN. Or just make sure you have no open ports to the outside world? You can check here: canyouseeme.org/You can still get DDoS'd with no open ports.

Great tips although its really common sense in my opinion.
OFT: If somebody were to DDoS me I'd pimp slap their ass with a silver bullet.
