I'm curious to see what the community thinks about various versions of Windows. For me, it would have to be Windows XP and Windows 7. - Windows XP was user-friendly, stable, and reliable on levels that no operating system has managed to achieve since then.
- Windows 7 had the best looking UI with the Aero interface. It was very user-friendly and incredibly reliable as well. I still use it to this day.

Windows XP and Windows 7 are where it's at.
If you vote Windows 10 you clearly have no experience with other versions of Windows.

Nothing beats the original Windows XP Professinal, since childhood and until know if Microsoft ever wanted to go back to supporting WinXP with new security updates and patches, I would abandon Windows 10 with no questions asked.

Windows XP had issues with USB drivers that I never had with Vista. XP was also quite ugly with the default theme IMO. Vista Aero was the best look Microsoft ever had on Windows.
To whoever voted for Windows 10: if you knew how many problems 10 has had over the years and the severity of them you'd probably change your mind.

It was the best selling OS of its time just for it's simplistic designs and features that blow alot of people's mind when they saw it. With every OS, comes issues that we hate but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying what you bought. Also, Vista was and is still the worst windows OS out there followed by windows me, windows 8, and Win10.

I have worked out my ways with windows for the longest time, XP was my main OS for since I was 7 and today at Win10. I'm getting closer and closer to Linux platforms to replace windows since 10 comes with useless animations and features that you never use.

Windows XP was the greatest operating system ever created for its time. No individual operating system has ever came close to its dominant market share and it was the peak of customization and themes on Windows. It was fast, didn't have all the constant running Microsoft "antimalware", telemetry, and DWM services which impacted performance, and worked very well. Vista (Service Pack 2 at least) and 7, despite being a bit more bloated due to Microsoft's awful window manager implementation, looked amazing and 7 still functions better than 10 to this day.
Windows 10 is basically a billboard, Microsoft places its advertisements and telemetry there to make money and that's all they care about, they still have the DWM and yet despite that their theme is flat minimalist fucking garbage. There is zero quality assurance in Windows 10's update process and they treat the entire operating system as a beta version of itself, it's what drives people to use Mac or Linux and it gets more fucking awful by the day. The Microsoft Store and the Linux-style changes they are looking to make ruin what Win32 has stood for since the 1980s, not that they want Win32/NT to continue to exist given that it's no longer their business model and prefer UWP (which is a fucking failure). But hey guys, this is the future, the tech companies know what the people want and what we want is zero freedom in what we can install and we just want everything to run through a centralized package manager and an application store ran by Microsoft itself. Sooner or later they'll get rid of third party applications and the ability to download anything you want yourself. It's the way of the Apple.

One of the main reasons I dislike Windows 10 so greatly which you didn't mention is its horrid mechanical hard disk performance. For some reason, Windows 10 feels the need to use the hard disk constantly for god knows what, which bogs down performance significantly. Operating systems like Windows 8 and Windows 7 didn't do this at all.

When the hell was disk usage ever 100% on XP or 7 under the system process?

I never used XP. Grew up as a Mac person and used Tiger growing up instead of XP.
I know I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but my answer is Windows 10. Windows 7 takes a lot more time to setup, and my Bluetooth keyboard frequently disconnects, requiring me to restart my entire computer. I had many issues with Windows 10 Home and Pro, but using Enterprise LTSC is much more stable than 7. Of course, 7 barely uses up any RAM, but there are many things that 10 has that 7 doesn't. The most noticeable one is that you cannot scroll on inactive windows.
For me, the most reliable versions of OS X have ever been: Tiger, Snow Leopard, Mavericks, El Capitan, Sierra, and Mojave. I don't know what happened with High Sierra and now Catalina. Both of those are terrible. Currently dual booting Mojave and Mavericks (mainly to use the older Avid applications). I also have a Catalina partition but only for Xcode.
The one thing that I don't like about OS X is that each version only gets three years of security updates. I'm basically SOL when Mojave support ends.
Windows 7 wants to make me tear my hair out sometimes, but visually the Aero theme looks very nice (although I preferred the older Aqua interface on Mac more)

Except that WinME is just 98SE with a a few new features and a whole bunch of bugs added to it. Its insulting to consider that part of 9x. It certainly wasn't quality wise.

If you didn't vote Windows 10 because of the telemetry, privacy, or other technical related issues, I understand that. Part of what drove me to full time linux was that hoard of issues. When people say that Windows 7 is the best looking Windows (and still is the best looking Windows), I disagree. If you remove the ads from the picture, I think that Windows 10 is an objectively more modern-looking, user-friendly OS. The entire user interface actually looks like something that's acceptable by today's standards (as opposed to 7 or XP), and I think that revamping the settings app to be more accessible to everyday users while keeping control panel for power users was one of Microsoft's best UX decisions ever. Maybe my taste in design is different than yours, but I really don't understand why people like the Windows 7 UI more.

Maybe my taste in design is different than yours, but I really don't understand why people like the Windows 7 UI more. What do you define as "more modern-looking"? Because if flat minimalism is what we now define as "modern", then I have zero interest in modern. Go to twitter.com on a desktop computer, guess what, it's now exactly the same as the mobile version with awful scaling and JavaScript meant for mobile, with zero design which looks good on desktop at all. And guess what else, the rest of the tech company websites have done the exact same thing, go to youtube.com, it's trash unless you use the script which disables the new design. I don't understand this corporate minimalist trend at all, look at how many companies have changed their logo to make it just flat, lower case text with zero shadows or borders. The end result of this is just that everything looks horrible especially on desktop. So no, I hate the fact that they have applied that same design standard to Windows 10, despite it being "MODERN". Why is it so blue?? Windows 10's logo is 4 blue flat squares, it's literally objectively less artistic than the Windows 3.1 logo. The desktop of Windows 10 makes me feel claustrophobic, the unappealing blue default wallpaper and flat black taskbar. They removed any visually appealing aspect of Aero and just hacked it out of the DWM and made it impossible for anybody to customize it to make it look even remotely appealing without breaking the entire window manager rendering many parts of the system unusable, by far one of the worst design decisions Microsoft has made in the history of their corporation. Why is it that you can make Windows XP look exactly like Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10, but you can't make Windows 10 look anything different than itself? Why is it that Windows 10's window manager is so unoptimized and causes input lag in games? Why did they split off the control panel that Windows has had since the 90s into a completely different, trashy Metro panel? How is it good for UX when you have half of settings in one mechanism and the other half in another? It makes things highly confusing and ruins the experience for regular users. It's objectively less accessible when you have it split like that, especially when Microsoft tries to "hide" the control panel with settings that you can't even find in the Metro version. I can understand opinion in design. If you like the horrific design trends that the tech industry is pushing, that's alright. Why does it have to be forced on the rest of society that fucking hates it? There's a reason why it's such an "unpopular opinion" that Windows 10 looks good, or any of the social media website's design changes. People want options, people want customization. Nobody fucking wants what is displayed on their desktop computer on an ultra HD monitor to look like what appears on their crappy tablet or their phone. So no, I will actively go out of my way to avoid that and continue to use workarounds, and right now the workaround of simply installing Windows 7 and getting the exact experience I want is fucking awesome.
