In order to revert from quantity > quality, the current admin system needs to be heavily overhauled. A lot of people are going to probably disagree on this, but this is for the better of the server.
We have too many admins, and quite honestly it has to end. Being an admin is about being an admin, right now it's viewed as a novelty title. As an admin, you are expected to administrate on the server. I'm not saying you can't have fun, I'm saying that a lot of admins are only messing around and never actually administrating. We have about 106 admins on this server (this isn't counting inactive seniors, with inactive seniors we have (we have 52 so that's about 158 total admins on this server, there could be more that aren't listed, so lets say we have about 200 admins, including ones that with the current system can just say "yeah im back" and get their rank back)
Here how things are going to be changed:
- Starting today, there is a thread in the Super Lounge giving admins 5 days to say they are still active. If you can't come on the forums at least once every 5 days regardless if you're trying to defend it because of school or a job, then you obviously shouldn't be an admin on this server. This will be the only grace period for inactivity, and you will maintain your rank regardless of your current activity if you post in it. However, if your inactivity on the forums continues, then you will eventually be removed anyways.
- Telnet Clan will be removed, any remaining Telnet Clan members will be moved down to Telnet Admin.
- Keeping Telnet Admin as a rank was a hard choice as they only have access to BukkitTelnet, however if enough people say they want Telnet removed too, then it'll be removed, and any Telnets and Telnet Clan admins will be moved down to Super Admin.
- PAS will no longer exist.
- For inactivity: If you do not post an inactivity notice and you go inactive, you will eventually be removed. If you post an inactivity notice for lets say because of family problems and you need to go away for about a month: you're fine. If you post a notice saying you're just tired of Minecraft or anything else around that: you will be removed. Also, if you can't be active on the server, then you shouldn't be an admin here. This is a Minecraft server community. However, if you PM me or the EAO, there can be exemptions from this, and you may be able to get it back.
To wrap this up: This is to add more activity requirements for admins, including posting on the forums (not just coming online), and going on the server to administrate.
On the topic of forum posting: If you come online, and only post lets say once every month, then that's not being active on the forums. Only coming online once in a while and not posting anything isn't going to work.
On the note of applications and promotion applications:
They will only be opened on designated time periods. Meaning you physically can't post an application until the time period for applications are opened.
This is how I'm rolling this out:
Phase 1: Purging of inactive admins, and closure of reinstatement applications.
Phase 2: Removal of Telnet Clans
Phase 3: Removal of PAS (Picks-a-Super)
