I'd like to hear some genuine arguments for both.
I'll start;
FreeBSD is more natively "Unix", then Linux could ever wish to be.

Linux has a bigger market share than BSD will probably ever have. What does that mean? Not that Linux is better, but certainly that more software is available and support is better. Frankly, discussing how closely aligned something is with a certain philosophy is just a matter of purism, not usefulness.

I honestly can't think of any advantages to using BSD over Linux. There's a whole bunch of disadvantages though, especially for hardware support. Also moved the thread to a more appropriate section.

Embedded and small devices like smartwatches, and smart TVs often run it too (Tizen OS which is on both my TV and watch uses the Linux kernel).
