MTFGA Action Strategy
Greetings all,
I would like to come to light with a very concerning issue regarding the future of TotalFreedom, and propose a demonstratively effective way at dealing with it. I’m going to try my best to condense a seemingly exponential amount of information, into a digestible, cleanly organized thread. If at any point you feel as though I am being too blunt, naive, or downright preposterous, feel more than welcome to let me know, for this document is not something I’d like to claim ownership to. This is a document that we, as an administration, must review and collaborate on, as that’s what teamwork, and more importantly, this staff team, has been, and still is, built upon.
PREFACE:
As a player in the TotalFreedomMod (TFM) community for half a decade, it is very apparent, albeit, self-evident
to myself, and many others, that TF has changed in drastic ways, some of which, we can not control. The unfortunate reality, is that the nature of the gaming community is changing, and in order to stay competitive in an ever changing environment, we, as a community, must be ready to adapt and spring into action, to accommodate our changing player base. I, W1Z3, have compiled a condensed strategy that I propose we as a community look into, to ensure that TotalFreedom, and its timeless assets, stay competitive in the coming weeks, months, and years.
PRE-DEPOSITION:
It is extremely discernible to our players, our extensive staff (some of which dating back to the very beginning), and to our community (both present and past), that Total Freedom has seen a sharp decline in its active player-base. Although we as a community have witnessed countless declines and inclines over the past 6 (almost 7) years, the trend we are witnessing currently, doesn’t seem to have a close light in the end of the tunnel. Quite simply put, TotalFreedom must act now, or we’ll forever be witnessing what has happened to countless communities, over the years, a solemn goodbye.
NOTICE BWB:
Before some of you comment, I understand I’m only a Super Admin, and I understand we do have an advertisement manager, and appropriate staff who have been appointed to fill the very task being talked about in this thread. I am merely creating this thread for the benefit of this community, and have absolutely no intention of “playing-every-role”, as some call it in the workplace. Please bear in mind that this thread is coming from a concerned administrator, who had practically grown up in the TFM community, and thus, has had the TFM community, and it’s staple TF, become a huge part in his life. Thank you for your understanding whilst reading this, and as always, this our thread, please feel free to edit, comment or question anything brought about in this thread. Having said this, let’s begin, shall we?
SECTION I; Clearing the myth about “Fortnite”, and other games that are seemingly “killing TF, and Minecraft popularity”
On the contrary to popular belief, “Fortnite”, is not the defining factor for TotalFreedom’s decline.
Fortnite is a popular game, that has, in some sense, has drawn players away from the Minecraft multiplayer community. It is evident, however, based on current game sales, and GIR’s that Minecraft is still a substantially more populated game then Fortnite. As we all may know, Minecraft had just recently surpassed Tetris, to win the best selling game of all time title. Something only Minecraft would be capable of. In the light of this, many active multi-media stars have started not only delving back into the realm of the game, but delving back into the multiplayer aspect of it. And thus, substantially increasing the interest in the community as a whole.
Some examples of this are;
Keemstar’s Minecraft Monday’s (every large Youtuber, some of which, not even having all too much to do with the game (such as James Charles), all getting together and playing, well, multiplayer Minecraft). Stars as big as PewDiePie, and as “OG” as ASFJerome, iBallisticSquid, and SkyDoesMinecraft, and several other previously “I quit Minecraft” Youtubers, have seemingly delved back into the game, exponentially increasing its popularity, once again.
Extremely fast growing MC channels such as “Skeppy”, and “Technoblade” (It was seemingly thought that basing a channel around Minecraft was laughable, at best, being ridiculed for its “immature” nature, and it’s stagnant growth)
Servers such as Hypixel, Mineverse, SaicoPvP, and several others seeing BOOMING spurts in popularity. Hypixel in 2018-19, alone, has seen a growth from 20k players, to more recently, an average of 50k players (I do not have internet at time of initial writing, but one may easily find this data by searching up “Minecraft Popular Server Trends”, on google. To take it even further, one may join Hypixel, at seemingly any time, and experience average player counts at 48k+). This is an unheard of player base increase in the Minecraft community, and it is no coincidence this happened.
SECTION I: CLOSING STATEMENT
There is no direct metadata available between Fortnite logins and Minecraft logins, but resources as rudimentary as App Store downloads, and continuous game records are any illusion to Minecraft’s continued growth, then I do strongly believe it’s safe to say that Minecraft has had a more prosperous growth recently, then Fortnite. And due to this rare event, servers across the board have seemingly jumped on the opportunity to increase their player base, and it’s time, that we, TF, do the same.

SECTION 2: MTFGA 3-part Advertisement Strategy (this is the straight forward, simpleton advertisement plan that I have developed)
PART 1:
YOUTUBE PRESENCE
In an effort to gain an active player-base, it is evident that we must use YouTube to do so. Servers that have used YouTube, such as Skeppy’s “InvadedLands”, have gone from 50 average players, to 600+ in the last month or two alone. Growth like this is no coincidence, proving Youtube to be an effective strategy.
3 fairly straight-forward phases to build a YouTube presence, for TF.
Proposed Phase 1:
Reach out (via channel listed business inquiry emails), to a plethora of different YouTubers, and negotiate “let’s plays” and/or TotalFreedom teaser trailer videos, to gain exposure. (I’ve personally got direct contact with a few decently large youtubers, with my closest buddy being Alxton (60k subscribers).
PLEASE NOTE: Until we rebuild a player-base, all of these inquiries require payment, and I’d be willing to chip in required money, on an as needed basis. I’m only a super administrator however, and don’t deem myself the sole sponsor for these payments.
Proposed Phase 2:
Once we have received a satisfactory amount of deals, begin to welcome newly joining players with a warm, yet fun environment. In addition to this, having said players register on on the forums and Discord to increase longevity (we can incentivize sign-ups with special commands in-game)
Proposed Phase 3:
Assuming all goes to according to plan in phases 1 & 2, our plan, and final phase going further is to increase longevity, and activity. Phase 3 involves holding various “outings” or events as you will, on a sign-up basis. These events will have to be a big deal, and be organized in a manor to be structured, professional looking, and meaningful. We may even increase player interest further by developing a structured, organized, and yes, I’m re-emphasizing the word “MEANINGFUL”
partner based league for players, that will add an actual reason to continue playing TF religiously, that will, indeed, increase longevity.
I’m aware that we’ve tried events in the past, and some of them have worked, and most of them, had not. This isn’t because the events themselves were bad, it’s because, the events were stale, unstructured, and not meaningful. Why would a player commit their precious time to an event that has absolutely no incentive, or continued structure? It’s absolutely appalling that TF even allowed this to happen. Creating a tournament style bracket, taking after Fortnite’s “division” or league system (one can learn the most about themselves, by looking into the eyes of their enemy), will (and it was proven, due to, well, Fortnite) immensely increase player longevity, and daily activity on our forums and discord, in addition to in-game (I’d like to announce periodic league updates every so often, to increase player activity even further). I call this event plan, TF League.
PARTS 2 and 3 coming soon. For now, Part 1, phase 1-3 should be a good test-run to see our thoughts regarding the communal action plan.
CONCLUDING STATEMENTS:
Please bear with me on with this rather odd format, as I didn’t use the use of spoilers in this thread. I’d like to further reiterate that this document is OUR document, as a team, and can be treated as such. Feel free to re-organize, comment, question, and moderate, as such.
I’d love to hear all of your feedback to this, as I do strongly believe that this document may very well save TF, and substantially increase the fun we have. TF is amusing as is, but on behalf of former players, and staff, it could 100% use a refreshed, formidable upgrade, that will greatly increase player-base, and activity on forums, which will hopefully, in turn, increase admin activity, and general enthusiasm/support for TF (something that I haven’t seen in 2+ years, at least).
Thank you for taking the time to view and comprehend this document, I apologize for the word salad <3
Best, as always,
W1z3 (Aden)
