The problem right now is that both the rift and the vive are clunky and difficult to move in. On top of that, the resolution is still so low that you can see the individual pixels without much effort. I would wait a few years and consider newer alternatives, I know vive has vive cosmos in the works, maybe wait a while and look into that instead? I have no problem with moving in the oculus and the only problem I have is my rooms too small (and it's a large room in my basement where it's set up). The screen door effect is a thing, but I don't notice it unless I deliberately look for it

I would say that the Oculus is worth it over the Vive. The Oculus is cheaper, has better games, and more comfortable controllers.
