I object.. there are already visible exploits in the admin login message. God forbid we let OPs get a hold of these things... yeah lol

I think this idea is interesting and the largest reason cited against it is potential exploits. I feel this server has sort of gotten to a point where the idea of preventing exploits is being considered extreme because no one wants to actually work on it. So instead of coming up with new ways to grant our players new features, we decide to shaft the idea entirely, in the name of laziness and lack of motivation. Because why would an admin care for a feature an op would receive when they don't care about the op experience, because they'll never play as one anyways?
Regardless Login Messages are functionally useless. I've never seen an admin login message that was in any way insightful or interesting. It's entirely an aesthetic and as such this is basically a thread of people perl clutching an admin exclusive functionally useless aesthetic feature. 'Random admin is a potato' thank you random admin, very cool and useful. Totally not okay for an op to have that option though. Because admins are enlightened.

Madgeek while developing TFM "The idea of integrating worldedit is an interesting one, but I fear the ops would potentially abuse it or find exploits with it, so I will only provide admins with this feature"
Oh wait that didn't actually happen. But it would nowadays.

We could do what UMCM did where you can choose from a list of preselected messages. Or we could have a queue where an op requests a login message and then the admin can approve it. This can be done externally, maybe thru a template. I remember we used to have a login message template for admins and we could just repurpose it for ops. A big no from me for an op equivalent of myadmin setloginmessage

Then you're commenting on the wrong suggestion. This only became a problem after it was no longer required to include your rank in your login message, which was its entire purpose. The suggestion to reintroduce this rule is not very popular.

I can't vouch or object but I just don't think it's a good idea. Ops will find some way to abuse this one way or another.

Objection - It will most likely spam chat by the amount of people using it.

'Random admin is a potato' thank you random admin, very cool and useful. Totally not okay for an op to have that option though. Because admins are enlightened. I agree though, why should admins have login messages at all? Like, what purpose does "<admin> is a telnet admin and gay" serve? I honestly don't understand. After being suspended, I actually found out that being an OP is just extremely boring. There's literally nothing to do, but since admins don't care at all (most literally don't), but instead try to push suggestions for their own interests and try to make their admin life more fun, I don't see why people are wondering why the player base is ceasing. Admins: what can they do? They can break the forum guidelines without being punished, whereas if an op does it, they get yelled at instantly. They have so many more permissions, they're just being generally treated much more lenient, whereas if an op does something bad, they get banned. Ops: Worldedit and some pvp (admins can do it do). Admins have much more permissions than ops, and what's the fun in being an op when you're bashed around? I've personally not been bashed around, but I've seen quite a lot of admins do it. Sorry for making a rant post, but I just see so many admins fighting for only their interest while the whole 'totalfreedom' concept should be revolving around ops rather than admins.

Objection. This actually was a thing on UMC when I was Staff, you’d win Chat minigames and get coins, Executives would be able to give coins from the console. While it was fun at the time, it made moderating really annoying, which players can easily abuse by logging in and out, which can create a bunch of spam. It’s simply unneeded work for Administrators.

You are allowed to have a login message by using a macro mod that will send a /me message upon join (there was a debate about this a while back, and all users are allowed to have 1 command/message executed or sent upon joining, like minechat or pickaxe chat users). ont: object for mafrans' reasoning ”i. Use of macros is allowed as long as the macro only executes one command per activation and is triggered manually (e.g. using keybinds or an onscreen button). Macros that spam a single or multiple commands or are automatically triggered by an event on the server are not allowed. If there is an issue about whether or not a macro is allowed, the security officer(s) will make a determination.” aSk ThE sEcuRiTy OfFiCeR fOr a DeTeRmInAtIoN
