I'm not sure the extent that can be implemented in ProBoards, but I'm confident that it can somewhat be done. The idea is that a server fetches an external image on behalf of the client to: - Ensure HTTPS usage
- Cache images
- Protect user's data (User-Agent/Browser Info, IP Address, etc.)
There are several easy-to-deploy implementations, such as camo, which is used by GitHub, and is even open-source! With the experienced web developers who put work into the TotalFreedom forums, the ProBoards plugin implementation shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
Thanks for your consideration. Violet

Unfortunately, this is not possible at all with a ProBoards plugin because we cannot run any custom code server-side, which is necessary for fetching the original image. ProBoards plugins purely consist of client-side JavaScript.
However, there is one workaround for this, namely using an external server to do this proxying and then rewriting all image links on the forum to use that proxy. The problem is that it would be pretty disastrous if that server went offline.
