Inspired by totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/60216/applying-staff-interviewI think we should create a new way of achieving admin status. From the TF's discord, we should create a new channel for applicants to be interviewed in. Of course, this will be SUPER easy to achieve the status, but I've made up a few requirements, and I hope you can give me some feedback. Requirements for the ability to be able to be interviewed: 1. Must have at least 2 Senior recommendation, and 60 days on the forums. 2. Interviews only on the weekends. 3. Only Telnet Clan and up will be able to vote. 4. Must have at least 5 recommendation, including the one recommendation from a senior. For admins: If you are shy, you can create a chat channel, and only the interviewee has the ability to speak. Other admins can type in chat. If this has already been suggested, please let me know.

Object. We don't need more ways of becoming an admin, and the current way people apply (not the voting system) seems to be fine.

I object, I know there are some deaf people here and it would be just pointless.

I'm objecting for a few reasons. Firstly, who will be doing the interviews? Someone trustworthy? Someone not biased? How will we know if they abide by the rules? Secondly, with that many recommendations, I would bet good money that someone's going to throw the 'PAS card. Thirdly, the current template application style allows users to really express what they are trying to say and have a lot of time to think about a proper response. I'd think that with the number of applicants coming through on voice, the quality would be a whole lot worse. Fourthly, even if someone applies over voice, one of the major lackings is the proper admin team. Currently, the whole admin team of the server can comment on an application. I wish you luck if you think you're going to get the whole admin team who are in different parts of the world and at different times on VC. To answer your question, this suggestion has not been posted before

Personally, I vouch for this as admins will randomly go onto an app and say "object" for no reason. This would give them a way to get to know the person in a more formal way before they make their final decision.

I agree with xfilez. In addition to his arguments, what questions would the interviewer ask? The same things as the text template currently does? If so, what advantage does answering those questions verbally have? If you want it to be easier for admins to test the applicant's knowledge (which is the vibe I'm getting from this, even though it's a different suggestion), why is doing that in writing not feasible?

I object to this suggestion though interviews could be an interesting aspect to all staff applications. I have an interesting idea: maybe a Senior/Executive could talk to applicants or have a brief orientation meeting for recently selected admins. Most large servers have an interview stage in their staff application process.

I object.
The biggest reason being that someone could be a troll. You can spot a troll right away in a text based application. But they could decide to start trolling mid way through the application and waste a lot of your time.
Secondly, the purpose of job interviews in real life is to get to know the candidate and how well their social aspect is. Being on TF is quite the opposite. As Steven said you could express yourself quite fluenly in text. You're kind of put on the spot in an interview, having many in real life.
