AMD has 12nm already and Intel is currently at 14nm. Unless they do something, Intel is about to lose at their own game. I honestly hope that happens too. Intel stagnated the CPU market for several years, and I wouldn't mind seeing them pay the price for it.

Then there's the problem of quantum tunneling... The next step is using quantum mechanics rather than avoiding its effects. I predict an increase in investments in quantum computers when the lithography research stagnates.
