I occasionally visit this forum, and I also won't plan on reinstating at the moment.

Hi, I need some help.
Recently, I accidentally installed a Trojan on my laptop, but it has now been removed (including the viruses left behind)
But now, I'm having a problem. Every 5 minutes, my laptop suddenly shuts itself down. Is it because the virus wrecked up the laptop's hardware? If some of you know any solution, I'd be happy to hear about it, even if it has to be replacing my laptop.
Thanks!

I had this issue once. I fixed it by replacing it with a PC. That's how I got this PC I'm currently on. I once had a laptop.

I used to have that issues, I had to take it to Geek Squad at Best Buy to get it fixed. I don't know if yours is badly damaged or something, I suggest taking it to Geek Squad.

Check the battery is in right and take it out/put it back in blowing away all dust. If that fails, copy all valuavle data then perform a reset on the computer and get a good antivirus regardless.

id say your best bet would be doing a factory reset of the harddrive

Before you do anything major like everyone else is advising you to do, just try reinstalling Windows because if it somehow still happens when you reinstall Windows then that confirms that it's a hardware problem. There's no need to mess with the hardware when this is probably just a virus that wasn't picked up by your antivirus.

There is something that I do, and its relatively complex but it works. I use a bootable USB with ubuntu on it, because 9 times of out 10, its a problem with Windows, rather than the hardfware. The virus should leave ubuntu unaffected, as its a completely different OS running off of a USB. i can then access my files and data, and remove it from the hard drive.

You literally suggested the exact same thing.

How is reinstalling windows not a factory reset? Harddrive factory reset != reinstalling Windows I wasn't talking about formatting the hard drive, I was talking about reinstalling windows, i.e. Reset this PC -> remove everything.
