Appreciate all the kind words on the new owner announcement - both for myself and Windows. As I mentioned in that message, I'll still be engaged in various administrative matters but not owner matters. What does that mean exactly?
- I won't make any policy changes - that's up the owner. Like any admin, I can offer suggestions or advice if asked but that's it.
- I won't be making any promotion or reinstatement decisions - that's up to the owner and designated execs. I can assist administratively but that's it. I can also re-add back to status for simple inactivity or change of account; again, purely administrative and will refer to the owner or designated execs if there's any doubt.
- I won't be involved in referring any kind of admin disputes - that's up the owner and other designated staff chosen by the owner. I can choose to moderate per forum policy like any other forum moderator but won't handle any fall-out such as warnings, suspensions, etc - that's up to the owner and designated execs.
- I won't remove anybody from status (server or forum) unless there's a breach or other serious conduct problem that requires me to take action. It would be purely an administrative removal / ban and will it be up to the owner and designated execs to handle the fall-out, removal from ban, and any reinstatement. That's pretty much as any senior can do.
- Except for those who were selected to Clan on the last cycle, I will not add anybody new to Clanforge - that will be up to Windows and he has the power to add and remove. If Windows removes somebody from Clanforge, it will be up to re-add if he so chooses. If there are removals due to a breach or inactivity, I can re-add authorized Clans administratively - send any such requests to BOTH Windows and me.
- I will handle machine support issues as long as the server is on Multiplay - so if the server is crashed, can't be restarted, maps, plugin updates, or some other major issue, let me know. I will also continue to handle perm ban requests (inc. clearing the daily bans) since perm ban adds are done via FTP but Windows can also do it as well and if he wishes, do it all himself. I will not remove anybody from perm ban unless it's approved by the owner or designated staff.
- At some point, Windows may choose to re-host TF to a VPS. When that happens, play.totalfreedom.me will be re-pointed to his VPS and I won't be much involved at all except as an the 'founder' and semi-active senior. I will however maintain the existing Multiplay machine as backup for up to several months after the move - if the VPS option doesn't work out for some reason, we can move back and figure out something from there. Same idea with the forum if that's moved.
So for those thinking I'm riding off into the sunset, I'm clearly not - the difference is I'm sticking around for technical administrative support matters, to assist Windows, and see to a smooth transition and the continuation of TF. Anything else (e.g. admin problems) is for the owner / exec / seniors to handle. Thanks again
