I change my mind about what I said in the admin tips thread, I might (also) create a thread about it:
Hello.
Here are my tips on how to become an Administrator on the Total Freedom server.
Hello.
Here are my tips on how to become an Administrator on the Total Freedom server.
1. Maturity
Being an administrator on the Total Freedom server is a very big position to handle. It can be stressful at most points as greater power, holds greater responsibility. No matter what server you are on; even if you're an admin on any associated servers, this server, is where your maturity comes into play. Before you apply, question yourself, what makes you unique and outstanding in front of the crowd, in comparison to everyone else and your other fellow candidates and peers. Do you believe you are mature enough for this position? Are you fit and able to handle and enforce a server of up to 45 online players? etc. If you believe you are fit and mature enough for this position, feel free to apply. Everyone is interested in becoming an admin, so you might want to also question yourself about that. Immaturity can be shown in many ways (which we don't want), such as disrespecting and arguing with admins, spamming, acting childish and fooling around, etc. Maturity can also be shown by how you represent yourself on the forum. If you're known for violating the forum terms of service (TOS) e.g. power posting, posting unnecessary information, etc, you might want to clean your act before even thinking about applying for administrator on the Total Freedom server. We don't want admins posting useless material on our forums. Keep your posts helpful, professional and mature; that way, it'll significantly establish your chances of us wanting to pick you.

2. Joining an Admin Crew
Joining an Admin Crew is not mandatory but recommended, admin crews will train you as you are an Admin Assistant, joining admin crews will teach you things you didn't know, and will help you for the future, and when you are successful and achieved administrator status. The purpose of them is so you can 'practice' being what it's like being an admin but still an OP, so you can see what it would be like being an administrator while under OP status. Admin Crews also help you get recommendations easier as the Crew Leader will begin to know you more; if you establish and made a great achievement, there is a chance of the Crew Leader recommending you and likely to be the first person to do so. Again, you don't have to join an Admin Crew, but joining will help you and increase the chance getting recs as the Crew Leaders will know you better.
3. Being Active and Helpful
We are looking for active and mature members to join our team who are dedicated to helping and enforcing the server, otherwise there is no point. What's the point recruiting someone to the team who simply does not have enough time to maintain and enforce the server? Activity can also be judged in these situations, if you're someone who is unable to spend at least 10 hours or more a week maintaining the server, then there is a problem. You should spend at least 1 hour a day helping out and enforcing the server rules and conduct policy. If you simply do not have time to spend at least an hour on the server, then like I said, we'd rather have a more active member admin instead as it's just pointless having an inactive member admin. While you are active and online, you should help out. Help out can include answering questions by your fellow OPs and peers; reporting rule offenders via /report; msging an admin if you need help or need them; telling others how to apply for admin such as doing /ai; etc. Helping out can also be shown on the forum such as filing griefer reports, answering questions on the forum made in help and support boards, etc in a mature, professional manner. If you believe you are someone who fulfills these tips, feel free to apply.
4. Knowledge of the Policies
If you're someone (like me), who knows and literally memorised our server policies very well, you have an amazing, decent chance getting administrator. The most important policy of all is the Conduct Policy. The conduct policy contains the rules and offenses, it is the banning protocols as it states what punishment an OP would get if they committed an offense or scenario stated in the server terms of the conduct policy. If you already memorised the policy, great! This, in my opinion, is the most important section of this essay overall. If you know the conduct policy very well, you can pretty much guarantee yourself approved before you can think about it. The benefit of someone who knows the policies very well is they would not have to be trained as they pretty much know the punishment guidelines; you will be able to enforce the server remarkably. Showing knowledge of the policies is easy: if someone broke a rule or you believe someone broke a rule, state what rule number it comes under that they violated (e.g. Broke section 2n of the conduct policy), if you know this literally that you're able to tell what section each rule number comes under, you will be one of the best admins you could possibly be.
5. Meeting the requirements
It is vitally important that you fulfill the requirements. The only exception to bypass ALL the requirements is if a senior admin decides to SPAS you (you must be 100% sure you know they will do this) or a telnet has approved to TPAS you. The full list of requirements can be found on the Pre-application Checklist. Here are the general requirements to meet:
Compulsory Requirements - requirements you MUST fulfill (or you will be denied). (Exception: if a senior is SPASing you)
Optional (recommended) Requirements - requirements you don't have to achieve, but will boost your chances of approval.
Compulsory Requirements
? Must have an admin recommendation.
? Must be registered on the forums for n days as followed:
i) 60 days with a Super Admin recommendation
ii) 30 days with a Telnet/Clan Admin recommendation
iii) 0 days with a Senior Admin recommendation (anytime)
? Must file at least 3 valid and approved griefer reports on the forum.
? Must agree and accept the risk of DDOS and or DOX.
? Must agree and accept that being an admin could affect your real-life such as school grades, family, etc.
Optional (recommended) Requirements
? Must join an Admin Crew.
? Must memorise the server conduct policy & banning protocols.
? Must have a forum avatar (not the default 'noob' avatar).
? Must have good English with the correct use of grammar minus slang, etc.
? Must be active in-game (I recommend 10 hours a week or more) and helpful!
? Must be mature who we see has the fit potential for admin.
? Finally, must agree and abide by the rules at all times.
6. Applications
Your application is the first thing we look at when you apply. We look at your detail, grammar, length, professionalism, etc; finally, what it is that makes you unique and a great role-model to the server who we believe has the fit potential for administrator. Before you apply, make sure you have read the requirements said on the pre-application checklist. The most significant requirement is the time requirements, make sure to fulfill the time requirements first and then apply, followed by griefer reports. Things you should not do during or before your application processes are: do not comment on your app unless asked a direct question or believe a vote was false, do not ask admins for recommendations (if you're unable to get a rec, create a thread in this board requesting it, but only once), do not advertise your app or ask admins to view/read your app; finally, the most important one is do not post your application in the shoutbox below. Create an application in the Admin Application board; after that, keep quiet and do not bug admins to read your app or for recs. Exception: if an admin voted without a reason specified, you are allowed to PM them why they objected, however, nothing more should be done, do not bug them any further as it'll damage your chances getting approved. Furthermore, be sure to write in a lot of detail especially Q11 that asks for a paragraph.
7. If you get Denied
If you get denied. It's not the end of the world. The key term to remember is, don't give up. However, cliffhanging this point, if you get denied, do not argue why you were denied as this will 'hurt' your chances establishing again in the future if you re-apply for admin again. Usually if you get denied, it's because of lots of objections. Objects without reasons are effectively not powerful enough to denial you, so you should follow the admins who objected's advice (their reasons for why they objected). You are allowed to re-apply for administrator every calendar month. For example, if you got denied on 5 January, you can apply again on 1 February; if you got denied on 25 January, you can apply again on 1 February. I.e. the beginning of a new month resets your eligibility so no matter what date you got denied, you can re-apply again in the beginning of the next month.
Thank you for reading this, and good luck to your application.
