So I tried to login today to minecraft, and for some reason I couldn't remember my password- Forgetting that I changed it.
What I think happened is that Minecraft blocked me by IP- I did use a VPN to get around this, but even some VPN IP's were blocked.
I should be back on tomorrow, just wanted to let you guys know.

I had a similar thing happen to me, I emailed Minecraft Support, they figuratively across 5 emails called me an idiot, told me to not use a VPN, and sent me a password reset and I reset my password and stopped using a VPN.

I tried many times, I then went on the minecrafthelp IRC and found out some other people were having the same issue. The issue was later fixed 10-20 minutes later.

Are you sure that you didn't use a VPN while logging in to your minecraft account? Whenever you login using a VPN, it tells you that your password is wrong. Go to whatismyipaddress.com/ to confirm that the IPv4 you are using was not a VPN, but your own IP.

Minecraft login servers are most likely set in a permanent location for everyone.

For future reference, Mojang will silently lock your IP address out after too many login attempts by denying the login even if it's correct. You can indeed use VPNs to bypass this, but the entire network of OVH, not a very uncommon host for those, is banned on the login servers.

I doubt it to be completely honest; 'doubt that they would call you an idiot. (or maybe you are since you were using one - a free one)

In that case, make sure you aren't using something like a VPN add-on for Google or whatever you are using, as it automatically turns on whenever you open up your browser which makes it confusing.

This happened to me, I just reset my computer and re-logged back in and then changed my password to something more complex.
EDIT - even my alts logged out, Which I am yet to log back in.
