Some people seem to think that reporting rule breakers while admins are on is pointless. While it is true that it isn't quite as useful, it can still be useful. By reporting them with valid evidence you create a record of the misbehavior that can be referenced later if the person needs to be permbanned. On another note, anyone getting caught in range-bans should consider it a chance to be helpful. When you appeal a range-ban it helps us find serial offenders who need to be permbanned.

You help out the server and get credit which is good if you are thinking about applying for admin any time soon. _Windows, what is the point of range banning? Why don't admins just ban the IP of the rule breaker and not risk banning other people?

^ the auto range ban was implemented long ago in response to bot attacks that would make use multiple ranges from a particular ISP and cause havoc. Yes, there's a small chance that it could result in an off-line ban for somebody that just happens to be using that ISP and when it happens, we perm ban the exact IP of the offender to hopefully keep it from happening again.
