Spend less on the CPU and more on the GPU. That PC is unbalanced. Not quite what I was looking for, and it's a little too late for that.

Depends on what shaders, but I'd say anywhere between 30-100+ SEUS Standard.

Spend less on the CPU and more on the GPU. That PC is unbalanced. Eh, not really unbalanced. There's little point in spending less on the CPU - really he needs a bigger budget for a 960/970.

Couldn't find a huge performance difference between a superclocked 950 and a 960/70 That's completely wrong, no idea where you got that from. Eh, not really unbalanced. There's little point in spending less on the CPU - really he needs a bigger budget for a 960/970. Right, but I'm saying for the budget it's unbalanced... Eh, perhaps. The only other thing that he could get is something like an Athlon which would be pretty shit to be honest. Better to get this now and upgrade the GPU later. Besides, if he isn't playing many games (or games like Minecraft) a 950 would be perfectly fine.

I said huge, meaning like when it comes to running minecraft, there is no need to upgrade.

I said huge, meaning like when it comes to running minecraft, there is no need to upgrade. And that's because Minecraft doesn't need a powerful GPU to run, it's more CPU/RAM heavy. But as far as the performance from the GPU goes, it's a good enough difference.

Yeah, but the price difference in this middle ground isn't really worth it, and you couldn't get much of a better GPU with it anyway.

My consensus is with Wicked. Depends on what games you plan to play and what quality you plan to use. IMO, you should keep the CPU and save up for a better GPU. A great option would be the R9 380X. You're looking at about 50-60 FPS ultra settings on most games with the R9 380x and it's only about $60 more than a 960.
