Whenever I try to join the server using Forge 1.8, I have a failure to connect and am met with a message that tells me to use the IP play.total.freedom.me. Anyone know why it does this?

Forge 1.8 isn't compatible with the current TFM - should be fixed soon though.

It has been fixed on the Github REPO, but I am unsure the build date for the version on the server. I will post an update here when I can confirm if the server version should have fixed this or not, if not we need to look at what the fuck forge is chucking into the address for no good damn reason.

Okay, I have done a bit of research.
The commit (https://github.com/TotalFreedom/TotalFreedomMod/commit/2ff0f6f5d65d4a5de0de2e4d7021c13d1a5ec124) that should have fixed this issue was written on April 26th, the server plugin was compiled april 30th, meaning that the change should have been live on the server.
What you need to do is attempt to login with forge, and then go to the logviewer and copy and paste what it says when you attempt to login, that way we can see if the fix has worked for one, but also if there is something other than FML being added into the server address.

Simple solution I'd think is to check if the address string contains play.totalfreedom.me, and if so let the player join. That way no matter what Forge injects in it, it should still work. Also I have seen FML inject " FML " and not just ".fml" before.

Also I have seen FML inject " FML " and not just ".fml" before. That would work, my only hesitation is that its no longer "Force IP" as such, more of a "If you type anything that happens to contain the same as the cofig does, then you can join IP". So while it would work, I personally would rather figure out what forge is being so god damn stupid and doing and patching around it to keep it so it has to be an exact match ideally.

Wild1145 I tracked down the issue: I used a plugin called IPChange on my server to detect the host name that Forge 1.8 sends, since TF isnt printing it to the log. Here it is. It is appending FML ChargedCreeper connected to your server through mc.cpulive.comFML:25565
