I've noticed a bit of a spike in the usage of death potions recently,, so I thought I'd take the time to explain how to get around it as an op if you are affected. You will need either a cracked launcher, or mod/client that lets you use offline accounts.
Unless the server is in online mode, you can log in using an offline alt. If it is, you will need a second Minecraft account.
1. Have the death-potion affected account on the server.
2. Log in with an alt, then /heal the main account. Be sure that its clear to any admins that you are doing this to yourself, and not trolling. Using a similar name may help.
3. Try to respawn on the alt, and if you can't still relog. Once your main is respawned, do /god to enable god mode. This will prevent splash potions from affecting you.

I'm the one that figured this out a little while back I got affected and I asked my friend on Skype if he would god me then heal me and I reloged and it worked

What would happen if you logged in with something like minechat? Would you be able to use commands from there even though you're dead?

All death potions are, is health potions with different nbt tag data since creative let's you do almost anything. Same way .enchant works. |

If only they worked the same as crash items... being able to simply /heal yourself on MineChat (or whatever you guys use) would be nice...

Countered by myself, I did /spawn quickly and it healed myself.

Sorry for the bump. Dont get mad.
I have made death pots that require some more work. (Made on EF)
Here is how to heal yourself.
1. Notify a player or admin by using a alt very similar to your name.
2. Once notified, tell them to enable your /god to protect you from future attacks using death pots.
3. Once you have /god, using the alt, tell the player/admin to use /heal on you a good 5 to 10 times and you have to quickly respawn if necessary while they are healing you.
4. Once healed, exit the alt and use your main account and move on.
NOTE: This potion sets your health to 0.1 thus giving you a infinite crash loop and can only be restored via instructions like these.
TIP: Be sure to report all death potion users to keep death potion victims and attackers at minimum.
* I have tested this method on my server by doing the heal and stuff via panel. It works.

I really don't know what you guys are talking about, I'll be honest and say I've tried a death potion on myself yesterday and nothing happened except for getting a health boost buff... and I didn't do /god.
