I just dropped my laptop this morning and now its HD is I think fried. ;_; I certainly hope you had backed up your data. In any case use it as an excuse to get an SSD replacement. Once you get an SSD as a system drive you will not ever want to go back to a hard drive.

Once you get an SSD as a system drive you will not ever want to go back to a hard drive. my only problem with SSDs is how they lack storage space. now, I know there is cloud and other backup options (external storage), but I don't like the idea of always having to use up more electricity.

SSD use a lot less power than an HDD. Combine that with a slim low power external and you'll likely end up using less power than you did before.
