There's a difference between MB/s and Mb/s. Service providers advertise using Mb/s or Gb/s because it's a higher number, bit in reality, you're really going to be using MB/s. For example: I pay $30 for my internet, which is advertised as 30 Mb/s. High number right? Well, I only get 1 MB/s (2 if I'm lucky) download speed using, steam, for example. Advertising using Mb/s is HIGHLY misleading. Pretty sure false advertisement is highly illegal. I get what I pay for =) and by 'I' I mean my dad.

It's not false advertising, but it is misleading. They say you get 30 Mb/s, you do get 30 Mb/s. (unless you have comcast because fuck you) And even if they're flat out lying, it's still not illegal because of the fcc says so (to a degree).

They say UP TO 30. It varies depending on the cables in your street and how far away you are to the ISP tower. I get up to 20 but as you see in my signature I get no where near that because the city still hasn't replaced the 60 year old cables in my street and I live no where near my telstra tower. (My ISP isn't telstra but I still use the telstra tower)

Let's work this out. The average Internet speed is about 10mbps. 1024 mbs is a GB lets round that off to 1000mbs. So your 10mbps can download 1gb in 1000 seconds but your internet never usually downloads at its top speed. So let's make that a 10th of the speed which is usual for Internet to download a 10th of what it says it is. That's 10000 seconds for a gb. So 150mbs should take that long. Do a speedtest.net and tell me how fast your Internet is. I'm pretty sure what I've said is true though correct me if I'm wrong. P.S: Your system specs have nothing to do with your DL speed except your hard drive, try running a defrag. It might take some time because disk management can b a bitch, running a defrag sorts out where it physically is on the platter of your hard drive. That's why SSDs are faster...I think. you are so smart ._.

Maybe it's more strict in England. And I've no idea what the fcc is although I heard something about it on family guy.

Put some tin foil behind your router. So the government can't control it's thoughts?

Nope, as long as you say you can get UP TO 30mbps, 300mpbs, 1Gbps or whatever, its the same as shops saying that you can save up to 50% on your weekly shop. Its perfectly legal providing that it is possible for your line to get up to that speed. It may never get there for a range of reasons, but if its possible its not false advertising.

That's what Clear told me to do when I've called.

I'm not a computer expert but I know for a fact a 150MB download shouldn't take 15 minuets. I don't think it's my WiFi because this never use to happen. I prefer not to download anything but I'll download something if I have to. Yeah, I no the specs aren't that good. Well, my old computer broke and I had to buy this as an replacement.
Spec:
Don't scare me but: So darn close, I have a C55-A and 6 gigs. Other than that, our specs match.

I have Xfinity (Comcast) and I have some of the best internet I download 7 gigs in half an hour.
