This is the updated policy for responding to admin applications.
1. When admins respond to an admin application, there are only 4 valid responses (non-admins/OPs see rule 4):
a. Vouch (with or without justification) and the justification should be factual (e.g. the applicant is always helpful in identifying griefers, the applicant help others, etc.). When listing a vouch reason, it should be based on the applicants current performance and ability to handle admin duties. This is especially true In the case of a reinstatement request after a misconduct issue; vouching just because somebody else got X number of chances is invalid and the vouch won't count; look at only the case of that individual applicant and whether or not you believe they're ready to resume admin duties.
b. Object (with or without justification) but any justification should be factual (e.g. the applicant is too inexperienced, the applicant doesn't meet time requirements, the applicant is a griefer, etc.). Using dramatic terms like "strongly object" should be avoided unless you have 'strong' reasons that are stated (e.g. the applicant DDOS'd). If you object and provide no reason, it will be considered neutral. Also, objections that are based on the distant past should be avoided in favor of how the admin is performing currently. Last, do not use object in cases where you don't know or haven't seen the applicant online - that is what neutral is for.
c. Neutral. If you can't vouch or object. Normally used when you don't know the applicant at all or well enough to make a decision. Also, neutral is just that; don't use contradictory terminology like neutral leaning to object / vouch; if you're leaning one way or the other, use object or vouch. To avoid clutter and echoing, you can simply up vote any neutral comment that you agree with.
d. Ignore the application (i.e. don't input or reply). This is a case where you might have a conflict of interest such as you're competing for the same promotion.
Note: An admin is allowed to change their vouch to an objection or vice-versa, or from neutral to vouch/object HOWEVER you must edit the original vote post and change it; do NOT add a new post with different or same vote. Once the application is approved or disapproved, you may not object or vouch.
2. Keep it professional - do not engage in name-calling, insults, personal attacks, bullying, and do not add images (funny or otherwise) until the application has been closed out. If not, your message is subject to removal and your input will not count. Also, if you object, make every attempt to be positive and constructive in your objection. For example, instead of saying, "he's clueless", say, "you need to learn the plugin commands." Do not use the application threads to bully or haze the applicants. Violations of this rule should be flagged.
3. Any admin of any rank can vouch or object as long as they can view the application. For example, a Telnet admin can vouch/object on a Senior application.
4. Everyone is allowed to comment on admin applications provided the comments are of direct relevance to the application or applicant at hand.
5. Admin reinstatement applications will normally be automatically approved unless the admin was removed for mis-conduct or there is evidence that the applicant is currently violating conduct rules. For reinstatement applications due to inactivity, an objection is not allowed unless you have evidence that the applicant is currently violating conduct rules. For reinstatements due to past suspensions, only object based on what they're doing in the present and not what they did in the past to get suspended. Additionally, if the applicant was a former Telnet, Telnet Clan, or Senior admin, you may also vouch for reinstatement to a lower level such as Super Admin.
6. Admins can (or comment about) other admin/op vouches/objections/comments however it is encouraged to send a PM to the admin/op they disagree with.
7. Do not use comments to suggest approval or disapproval; that's the job of the executive admin or owner. For example, don't state "auto-disapproved due to not meeting time requirements" - use "object - doesn't meet time requirements" instead.
8. If an applicant violates the rules during the application process or is obviously not qualified (e.g. doesn't follow the template, makes comments, just joined the forum, etc), please do NOT repeat corrections that have already been made by other admins as it's rather annoying and spammy to see repetitive correction messages. Feel free to PM the applicant if you want to offer advice.
