I completely disagree. Trump's rallies are part of the political strategy that he's used for the past 5 years, that's why he's never stopped doing them despite being elected, that's his communication with his base (along with Twitter) and that's why up until COVID-19 he was even still polling ahead of Biden in Pennsylvania (a state Trump won in 2016 which was only won by Democrats for numerous decades). His rallies are undoubtedly integral to his campaign but I don't see the unique value of this event as a "publicity stunt" any more than the other, at least with COVID-19. It just looks like his first event in a series of many to follow as he attempts to regain support after a series of events which have been damaging to public approval. Exactly, so this is something that Trump certainly cares about. This is what's supposed to be the kickoff for his 2020 campaign and shore up his base, if the publicity stunt fails then it can only hurt him especially when this is his first rally in quite a while and one that was hyped up for weeks.

My statement of "I don't believe either one of those are important to him" is in response to ticket sales and health concerns arising from there being an arena of people during COVID.

Were they? I know Trump used to do free tickets but he switched to paid after a while. Every source I've seen on the matter states they were free
