Yeah, Trump sure got trolled by people paying for tickets to his rally and thus helping his fundraising. Though money is important, I think this event was intended more as publicity stunt and it didn’t go so well.

Yeah, Trump sure got trolled by people paying for tickets to his rally and thus helping his fundraising. If he wants to get re-elected he still has a lot of work to do with handling the pandemic and race relations.

I don't see how giving money to a candidate you dislike qualifies as an "epic troll xd" moment.

Trump was bragging all week about the rally was going to be overcrowded though, so those people did get him on that part. But it's not like that's anything new. He's spent his entire political "career" (and most of his life, for that matter) announcing to everyone how everything he does is done perfectly - it's just one of those things that make you want to slap someone.

I don’t find it as a troll, more of a waste of fucking money. People bought tickets to empty the arena, but ended up donating to Trump’s campaign fund in the end. People just can’t see the bigger picture. Watch him make the rallies be free and seats on a first come first served basis.

I don't see how giving money to a candidate you dislike qualifies as an "epic troll xd" moment. Because, in this case, the money wasn’t as important as showing a full arena of people during a global pandemic. I don’t think Trump was concerned with the money he was going to make. If the tickets did cost money, it was probably not the smartest idea to purchase them as a “troll” though, but I doubt all those empty seats were because of people purchasing tickets and not showing up.

I don't believe either one of those are important to him. I don't see Trump caring about the pandemic anymore. The man has a short attention span, and any political focus has been going to the riots as of late.

Well maybe not him in particular, but his campaign advisors and people behind the scenes trying to get him re-elected. I heard that he was complaining that rioters and protesters were the main cause of the lack of attendance to his rally.

Trump's rallies are part of the political strategy that he's used for the past 5 years, that's why he's never stopped doing them despite being elected, that's his communication with his base (along with Twitter) and that's why up until COVID-19 he was even still polling ahead of Biden in Pennsylvania (a state Trump won in 2016 which was only won by Democrats for numerous decades).

His rallies are undoubtedly integral to his campaign but I don't see the unique value of this event as a "publicity stunt" any more than the other, at least with COVID-19. It just looks like his first event in a series of many to follow as he attempts to regain support after a series of events which have been damaging to public approval.
