What a crock of horseshit. I can name you several hundred cases (if not more) of black people being oppressed by the policy force in the USA. This is not how "the media is representing it" - it is a fact that minorities get sentenced harsher than whites; that minority neighborhoods are far more policed than white, despite the crime rate being equal; that these stories pop up every now and then just to give the US populus a reminder of segregation. There is yet to be any real justice in regards to police abuse of minority communities, and that simply demonstrates the tension present in American culture. The harshest sentence the officer(s) will get will be manslaughter, which is still not close to true "justice". Perhaps my point had been missed here... My point is the criminal justice system convicts someone of a crime, not the media. Until a case it put together that can actually stand half a chance of standing up in court, you can't just arrest people. It doesn't matter if we all think it's the right thing to do, it's not how the law works. I'm not going to pretend I know much about the US Legal system or the racial issues that you're talking about, because I don't, I just know that when you instinctively do shit in response to the media 'Speculation' you end up quietly loosing the case and justice is never served. Also for reference, he's been charged with murder as of about 2mins ago - But there is not much of a case to put together, police man kills innocent man, witness saw and recorded it. It goes viral, millions people see it.What else is there to compile? If anything, the media is doing a better job of being the justice system than the actual justice system. The fact that it took so long is actually pathetic.

Honestly I'm not sure the details of the US Justice System, I would imagine little things like validating the video's real and all that good stuff probably has to happen so that the first question of the defense is not "Could that video not have been staged" and they go "Well yes it might have been, we've not checked"

And there must of been tens of witnesses. So who would the justice system have to believe, a singular officer's word against tens of witnesses?

But you've still got to collate all that evidence get statements and make sure they all match up and such. The fact is they've already arrested the guy and charged him with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter, so the fact it's taken a day or two to get that put together I think is bloody impressive with the whole bureaucracy nonsense that usually happens. Also FWIW - I don't agree that it taking this long, I personally see what everyone else has and think he should have been nicked as soon as it came to light, but just trying to explain why it isn't instant.

I assume some of you have seen Trump's reply about how 'looting will be met with shooting [from the national guard]'. Well, Twitter's now gone and hidden his tweet because it violates their policies. You can still see it, but you physically have to press a button to view it. Apparently, the tweet was 'glorifying violence' which, it was. www.bbc.com/news/technology-52846679

I believe that the Black Lives Matter movement has all rights to be anger at the previous events of police racism and yeah I understand but now it has became a bigger issue since they started burning buildings, houses & cars of people who did not do anything. You can't stop those anger people by using law enforcement.
From yesterday's report, I assume that sooner or later there will be mass shooting with both the people & the police. Civil War incoming?

There is now a nationwide protest at this point. Hundreds of people are protesting in all of the major cities nationwide, and violence has broken out in a bunch of these cities with police assaulting protesters, even in New York. Militarized police in Atlanta have brought in assault rifles after a massive Black Lives Matter protest at the CNN Center.
