As most know, the Total Freedom server has been open since 2010 and I've said in the past that I'll keep it going for as long as it's fun and people want it. Unfortunately, I'm losing the fun factor and it appears to me that many don't want it anymore. Every day now, I'm subjected to a barrage of negativity, hating on each other, the server, and myself. Although there is no charge to use the server and monetary donations have never been asked for (or wanted), it does require volunteers who keep the server operational from both an administrative, development, and security perspective. I have to take what I can get when it comes to volunteers and I have to balance admins desires / needs, and the fact they might not get along with each other - a very tricky thing.
As the owner though, I do have to steer the wheel and I can't possibly satisfy everybody with every decision but after 7 years, perhaps it seems I've lost the touch and to quote some admins, I'm a loser and Total Freedom is now "TotalShit" and sucks. In an atmosphere that is hyper-critical, constant back-biting, and contempt for each other, the fun is gone and I'm near ready to pull the plug. Before I make such a drastic and permanent decision, I've disabled the server for a day and the admin list is now cleared.
During this time, the admins who really feel the server is a lost cause and/or I'm a loser who can't run it, etc. etc, please do the honorable thing and remove yourself from status - don't take that to mean that I blame you or you're wrong; I appreciate anything that an admin contributed regardless of how you leave.
Those who want to stay, can get admin status back tomorrow (approx 24 hours) when the server is enabled again and that includes the admins that I had recently put on 'vacation' or temp banned - Clans will have to email me with their Clan email to get their status back. If the vast majority leave admin status or nothing changes (it's just as bad as before or worse), I'll know it's time to go and the server will end on it's renewal date and I can set play.totalfreedom.me to a new owner who has a TF like server. For those who do return, I hope you'll be committed to moving forward in a positive manner. That doesn't mean I expect a problem free server, or that you can't respectfully and constructively criticize but I can't abide in this poisonous atmosphere.
If the server does end, it won't be a negative to me but a positive in the sense that it was a long great 7 year run and I know for many it was positive experience that not only helped in the virtual world but in the real world. Thanks much for your attention.
