So i have 2 ideas on how we can have a stable playerbase in smp that doesnt rely on it being rebranded to something of a different genre. Idea 1: Ive said this on a prev. thread but my first idea would be to have the smp world map renewed every 6 months. I believe that six months is enough time to complete a singleplayer world. After that, the world would be reset. The world would then be available for download for those that want to continue playing the game on their own in single player. After that comes the renewal. The renewal allows for those that have completed the game to start again and to allow for new players to join and start the game themselves.
We would also have it so that everytime we renew, the map changes, to allow for a different gameplay experience each renewal.
tl;dr: reset smp every 6 months (or however long we want), put that world available for download and start smp with a (hopefully) map that isnt the SMPEarthMap.
Idea 2:
I'd like to call this second idea the "Wynncraft Approach"
This idea could be a little difficult to do, as it may take some developing coding magic that i am not certain out developers would be inclined to do.
SMP will not be renewed.
MBs will create an area inside of smp where players could partake on an "adventure" and advance in by using what we gather from playing smp. We could even create "job classes" that players can take. Each job classes would have its own unique adventure story with net of quests that you could complete in order to unlock other quests.
this gives me the excuse to force mbs to create an adventure map that ive been wanting to create for a hot minute now
So yeah these are my ideas, I'd like to know what you guys think of it and if yall have any ideas of your own. This thread may be a bit messy its 7am i havent slept ill fix it later when i wake up

I think your idea 1 fails because the average minecraft playthrough is done in less than a week.
The first day the server was up, the ender dragon was defeated. 5 days into the servers existence someone had achieved the smp god armor items
It also does not help the only source of economy was trading, making diamonds, emeralds, and netherite useless 5 days into the servers life.
It ALSO does not help that its taking multiple weeks to change, by that time we've already lost all interest in smp. The dev team seemed to be afraid to make big changes even with 3 players on during peak times, and this was weeks ago.

We could simply create more engaging things to do to stretch that playthrough out as much as possible. We could also lower the 6months if we cant stretch it any further I made this thread on the premise of the thread previousl made by the devs (think twas square who made it) where they put up fixes into the mechanics in order to stop players from getting the god armors that early in the game

this gives me the excuse to force mbs to create an adventure map that ive been wanting to create for a hot minute now lol ok. I agree with zeseryu's assessment of the first idea, but I would also like to add that resetting the map every 6 months would make it so there's no real sense of accomplishment when you get the best gear, because it's just going to reset and you'll have to do it all over again. True, you can download the world and play from there, but then you wouldn't be able to play with other people, which is kind of the point of multiplayer servers. The second idea has some merit. The adventure map could be cool. However, as you said, the devs might be less than inclined to have more work to do.

Understand where you come from this but then again what do you do once you achieve the best gear, best house, best of anything and everything? We'd eventually reach a point where you have done everything and all thats left is to either finish playing or to start all over again, you have to move on either way. And i dont think theres "no real sense of accomplishment", because one of the reasons i said having it available for dow load was to achieve exactly that. You can look at it later and think "ive achieved this, been there, done that"

Maybe we could turn it into a mini games server?

Most regulars come to TotalFreedom for the community, not the gameplay. If you want to revive SMP, it's not really a matter of piling on features and new gameplay, it's about hyping up the community enough to move part of it over to the SMP server. I would recommend holding more SMP-exclusive events.
