right so i tried to install the unifi shit before the isp comes to install fiber so i didn't have to do anything when they got here
so basically i put my shitty zyxel modem router into bridge mode and connected the gateway to the switch to the cloud key blah blah blah
so it seems like the DHCP server keeps timing out or failing (according to the unifi control panel)
basically sometimes it would give me an ip when connecting to wifi or ethernet. almost every time i got a 169.*.*.* address so basically useless
and the times it did connect it only worked for like 10 seconds before the entire thing crashed
the USG said it was able to get an internet connection sometimes, and sometimes it wouldn't. i was lucky to even see it if i actually got an ip from ethernet
when plugging into the lan1 port i was able to connect to the USG but not thru the switch
the router uses 192.168.1.1/24 and the unifi system uses 192.168.44.1/24
i'm really not sure what else to change or check. or maybe i just need to wait because the modem router thing is fucking with it
note that while in bridge mode i still had the SSID from the modem router broadcasting and i was able to connect to it fine
i had my firewall on the low setting
this is what it looks like normally and i changed routing to bridge
and this is the only thing that got changed from the settings (the DNS entries)
perhaps relevant?
im like 69% sure this is where the conflict is? is it the subnet mask maybe? idk
i assume this will get resolved automatically when i plug in just the motorola modem i bought but idk
