So, whilst in spirit I would be inclined to agree with this change, I would personally say that your development effort would be better spent perhaps building a web console (or something like that) that could communicate with TFM (or whatever is being used nowadays) using WebSockets. Even integrating into something like Mojang for SSO (if they support that, they may not). Would arguably be more secure against the type of attack you'd be more vulnerable to. Would make the whole thing a bit more user friendly, let's you use TLS instead of SSH, which arguably has better real world authenticity checking (be honest, how often have you actually checked the fingerprint of a server you're connecting to). That said, the chance of someone exploiting such a thing to access a Minecraft server is very low - but you could say the same thing about the use of Clear Text telnet though. I do believe though, SSH may be the best Telnet-Like solution, maybe this should be the time to consider a possibly better alternative in the form of a Web UI. That sounds very similar to the web control panel we already have, which also happens to be on HTTPS. I guess that raises the valid question whether Telnet (or its replacement) and panel should be two separate things.

This will be on the back burner. If it's dire enough I could always just encrypt the messages sent over telnet.
