Purely cosmetic and allows for more fun features what's wrong with that? These purely cosmetic features sound easy to implement in a plugin designed for this server, which would not only resolve these permissions issues but standardize the means by which developers add these "more fun features" to the server. If that were the case, it'd solve both problems this thread brings up. TFM uses permission nodes do using external plugins doesn't introduce a permission issue I don't see the issue with using third party plugins?

Using external plugins introduces a permission issue because of the way they're implemented, as made clear by this thread, with little oversight as to which features should be blocked from operators. By implementing these features in-house that wouldn't be a problem, not when commits can be monitored.

If a plugin developed by this server's team becomes "inefficient for the server" then that is a developer's fault, not that of an initiative for a server to develop its own plugins.

No, it's better to have two plugins which are managed by this server's development team as opposed to one and another plugin which this server has no control of. If the plugins are created by and for this server they can be accurately maintained and updated. If they are third-party plugins, that job is handled by another team of developers who have no interest in this server and that means you'll be prone to receiving changes which are not optimal for this server's needs.
