YouTube for some reason felt the need to get rid of their nice old responsive speedy layout and replaced it with their slow unresponsive nasty garbage new layout, which is notoriously terrible in terms of performance. Is there any way to restore the beautiful old layout to get rid of this nasty inconsistent garbage?

This post fails to make the distinction between "design" and "layout." The platform's design has changed over the years but it looks like YouTube's search layout remains largely unchanged. Not much is different in terms of *layout* even though many design elements were swapped.

Ik a lot of people hate flat design. I think someone here even cited a study that said flat design was statistically harder to use. I seriously don’t get it. I think these updates are badly needed, and I’m really glad more companies are modernizing their sites. A beautiful site is a site that I am more motivated to use, and I think that having an attractive and intuitive layout makes applications easier to use. Just my 2 cents.

You're basing this argument on the premise that flat design is "beautiful" when it really isn't. Not from any standpoint that isn't entirely opinion. I think having an unattractive and bland layout makes applications grueling to use. What makes a user interface "beautiful" should be pleasing to the eye and accelerate function. Flat design fails miserably on both counts. Not only does it facilitate a worse environment for novice computer users (when you can't tell what's made for interaction and what's just a background piece) but the popularity of flat design is breeding hastily-made, broken websites. If the majority of users share a disdain for flat design, companies should stop adopting it. They haven't, and it's showing that companies don't care for user feedback when it requires them to hire a design team.

There is a point when having a flat design can actually have a negative impact on the end user's experience. In my case, it's horribly unresponsive and slow when it comes to using the website or even loading a webpage. The old design may not have had the flat modern look that the new one does, but it performed miles better in terms of performance.

This has been the case with YouTube for years now (I can recall the terrible performance of their site's first creator page from when I made a channel 8+ years ago) and it seems that they've been shoving their mobile application down the throats of users instead of fixing their bloated website.

Not to mention the fact that the mobile application itself has become absolute garbage in the past few months. Who the fuck moves the comments section from a place it has been for years to a place where you could easily skim over it by accident? As shown by the changes they have been making for the past few years, YouTube fails to understand the meaning of the phrase "If it isn't broke, don't fix it".

I might not like the Github layout due to its oversimplified nature but I really do like this new YouTube one

I disagree that the old design was beautiful. The old design wasn't fundamentally broken for desktop users as this one is, but it was awful and you have to consider the fact that in terms of desktop user experience each design change since 2011 has only been met with negative reception, in effect a regression every single change. I think that a polished version of how the website generally was in 2010 would be the best for YouTube, but not in blue hell would that ever happen.
