So my video card just caught on fire and now is fried. I have around 280 dollars to spend on a decent video card. Does anyone have any suggestions for good video cards in that price range? I have an i5 7600

Caught on fire??
I'd recommend an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti for that price. You'd have maybe $60 left over which is nice, and that GPU will perfectly suit anything you'd want to do.

Polaris SeltzerisfionnYes literally caught fire. I unplugged something and it went into the little slot above my video card and started sparking before I could remove it and then it literally caught fire. Also thank you for the suggestion i will probably go with that

This may be off topic abit but what did you unplug? If the video card legit caught on fire, maybe others including myself will be alarmed when unplugging wires.

It was something for my oculus rift which now alarms me a little bit. Can’t be bothered to look if I just fried my oculus or if it’s just a sensor because i will freak if it is.

If you go for like 350 dollars, you can get an RTX 2060 but the 1660 Ti & super are pretty much enough for every task

If it wasn't an HDMI or USB cable and was proprietary to the device, it's most likely not intended to be hot-swapped. How can you "not be bothered" to see if you fried your six hundred dollar headset when, as you've admitted, you will freak if you have?

Dude why would I ruin a good vibe with sometning I can worry about the next day. Also, oculus won’t start without a video card anyway. My computer is fine, I removed the card and booted. My board has on-board so I’m not really too worried. I have a solid job and I should be able to get a 1660 that I found on my craigslist for 190 and it’s never been used.

A 1660 Super would do well at that price point, or if you could find a good enough deal on an RX 5600 XT would perform better.

The card is fried man, no point. Also no it didn’t ruin the vibe the party didn’t stop.
