So right now I'm using OVH's VPS 2018 SSD 3 option (upgraded from VPS 2016 SSD 3). It's lasted me well since I got it in April 2016, but Minecraft is more demanding now and the hardware has outgrown my needs.
Right now I'm paying ~$13/mo for my current hardware. It has two vCores, 8GB of RAM, and an 80GB SSD
I want a better CPU (one that's preferably good for running multiple Minecraft servers), and a much bigger SSD. More RAM would be a nice to have.
A 100Mbps internet connection up and down is a must for me (more is better). Unlimited bandwidth would be nice (no monthly cap).
I also want a real server. I don't want one from one of those Minecraft companies. I want full root access and control over what ports are open. I also need to be able to run Docker on it, so I don't want one of those shitty modified kernels. (OVH never had this, but this is important for me).
What would you recommend. I don't wanna pay anything ridiculous like $100/mo for an OVH dedicated game server.
Budget is I'd say $350 a year ($29/mo). Cheaper would be better, though.
also no scaleway thx

I went with Hetzner and got this I assume since the HDDs will be running in RAID i'll be getting fast read/write speeds (probably not as fast as an SSD but whatever)

So you Start has their GAME-1 on sale right now with an i7-4790K, which is excellent for Minecraft, but unfortunately it still only has a 120GB SSD: www.soyoustart.com/us/game-servers/(Yes, I know you already got the Hetzner one.)

old server: new server: Can't really comment on that because I'm not going to guess all of your circumstances. Can confirm running these drives in RAID0 is faster than an SSD. Chunks are loading way faster (while using speed 10 and flying throughout the world) compared to how it used to load on the old server.

Again, probably user error at that point... SYS is pretty good for what it is.

That can impossibly be So you Start's fault because they're dedicated servers: you get exactly what it says on the tin and you are responsible for managing its resources.
