For pictures I would definitely recommend the Huawei p30 Pro, even the p40 Pro, though the p40 doesn't have Google apps like the play store but you could always download Google and get them all back its just extra work.

From my experience with phones, I find Huawei to be the best you could go for, followed by Samsung and then Apple.
My brother has a Huawei and from what I have seen, it runs better then my Samsung A8 , Samsung J5 and ipad.

For gaming, I would recommend the ASUS Rog II. Quiet a powerful phone. For pictures, as mentioned above, go for the Huawei P30 Pro.

I would recommend an iPhone 2G. It doesn’t film video but it sure as hell can take 2007 photos at an affordable price.

If you're looking for a high-end phone, then it's going to need to be x86 and run Windows. Get an ITG xpPhone 2.

I am moving away from the high end phones lately due to them getting really expensive. I have a Nikon DSLR camera now so I don't need the phone cameras now.

If you want to game, there're 2 options at a very affordable price If you go the iOS route, you can get an iPhone X without Face ID used or an iPhone SE 2020, they go for around $250-$300 for the X and $400 new for the SE, if you know where to find them If you go to Android route, a Pocophone F1 is very affordable and is still very capable, but is only 1 tier above your S8 with a Snapdragon 845 (Assuming you have the Snapdragon variant and not the shitty Exynos one that my S8 has) If you care about gaming and the overall design and aesthetic & user-experience, I'd recommend the iOS route, it runs much faster and is highly optimized for gaming. If you only care about doing light-everyday-tasks like browsing Twitter, YouTube, etc, an Android phone can fulfill that at a much lower cost, but a cheap Android phone won't look as good or run as fast.
Oh, and if you want the top-of-the-line shit, the Poco F2 has a Snapdragon 865 SOC and is probably overkill for anything you'd do on a phone, but at around $500 it's great value

You say that now, but sooner or later you'll be in rehab for high end phone addiction. Had a friend once who was addicted to the high end phones, even Narcan couldn't save him.

I prefer iPhones, so what I'd recommend doing is getting an iPhone X and checkraining it so you can jailbreak it while staying up to date with iOS versions if you want. I personally have used android phones as my daily driver, but they start to significantly slow down over time. Then you have to factory reset it all the time. My iPhone XS hasn't been factory reset since I got it in March 2019, and it still runs like new

Get an iPhone if you want something that just works/privacy, and a Oneplus if you want anything android. One plus devices can be rooted and custom ROMd, which means you can make them function exactly how you want.

Google phones can also generally be software modded quite easily.
