This is rule 3q of the server conduct policy: I don't think I need to write a whole essay here: this rule was added without notice, and it just looks like an unnecessary restriction of freedom to me.

I agree, I think I mentioned this in another thread about the conduct policy, it's just not a rule that should exist. The only other rule in the conduct policy after reading it that I disagree with is 1q, especially considering Seth removed the server permban rule from the forum rules, it only makes sense to also remove 1q if the forum rule was removed.

All I know is that at the time, it was also planned to rewrite the policy completely. I guess that Seth intended to apply that suggestion once it started to get reformatted, especially because there were multiple proposed changes in my thread. Though I guess that removing that rule wouldn't take too much work, since, again, it's a single rule.
