Note: This is a more detailed suggestion, mainly forked from totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/66325/increase-packet-sent-limit .Also if you guys want more detailed suggestions I'll do that. The packet limit is a lovely thing. It prevents players from easily crashing the server by excessively doing a packet sending action. But sometimes it could possibly be a little too strict. Players complain from time to time on how they get kicked for packets from doing something that wouldn't seem to send much packets, examples. - Playing those note blocks nicely
- Criticals
- Killaura/Multiaura
- Pushing Buttons
- Toggling Levers
- Doing anything "too fast"
Now you might be thinking. "Oh well this is simply opening the doors to lots of exploits" Well honestly the exploits that packetify your packets to crash the server, or exploits that switch your hand are inefficient, and would need a server that doesn't have a packet limit at all to crash. Also, when a player is sending the maximum amount of packets, there is not a single dent in the server performance. Also, this isn't entirely dedicated to noteblock botters. This is more about other activities.

I'll repeat my comment from the other thread: Notebotting is probably the legitimate use that causes the most packets, so if we go from there, we should be able to find a limit that is just high enough for all legitimate uses.

Don't see any reason we can't increase limits to enable actual functionality, just wouldn't set them higher than they need to be, but that's sorta the same with everything.

If I remember correctly Seth (or mabye it was someone else) once said something along the lines of "you can't change the packet limit, it lets you modify it in the config but whenever you restart the server to apply the changes it gets reset"

I feel like packet sent limits are counterproductive... why not just implement a flood filter where the time delta between the recently set packet and the last sent packet are checked?

Bump. Just to put it out there, there are plugins that allow you to change the packet limit.

The results are in and it seems many people want to simply increase it.

Anyway object, yeah notebot sends a lot of packets but its easily prevented. The packet limit also prevents nukers too that aren't detected for breaking blocks too quick. Tested this before I got pbanned

I still think the correct solution to this is to compare system time delta between packets instead of using a limit like this.

The packet limit also prevents nukers too that aren't detected for breaking blocks too quick. Tested this before I got pbanned The poll was open for over a week, compared to a couple of days. I also cannot reopen the poll without having to lose all the results. Also even though the poll is locked doesn't mean people still can't vote on it. Also the packet limit is actually very strict compared to other servers. I went on a server and (with permission) I started doing packet sending things that would normally get me kicked on TF, and surprisingly I was able to do those without lagging the server.

Yeah I'm looking in both the bukkit and spigot config and there isn't anything to change the packet limit.
