1. Minecraft name: jwmphall
2. Discord username and identifier (if any): jwmphallbeans#6704
3. Approximate date of perm ban: 2/20/20
4. Reason for perm ban. Please do not lie and try to be sincere and apologize as applicable: Don't know specifically but according to Videogamesmash12, I was banned for forum posts and being annoying on the server. This was without any formal warning.
5. Do you agree to follow our server rules (see totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/65799) and the rules in place on the forum (totalfreedom.boards.net/thread/8134), and all the conditions stated above? Yes.
6. Please provide the one IP that you will be using to login to the server. If you don't know it, visit ip4.me and cut and paste the result. All other IPs that you used to get perm banned will remain perm banned. Don't provide a VPN IP. 65.35.37.95

Doesn't seem apologetic and you were banned somewhat recently. I would wait longer.

It does not mention anything about the possibility of a forum sanction, and mibbzz is not a forum moderator.

But given that he is a previous telnet (clan, when that existed) admin, does he even need a "formal warning"? Many times he joined the game just to troll and violated the forum policy. As an ex-admin he should know better and we should hold him to a higher standard - aka he shouldn't have even needed a warning.

I didn't say that a formal warning is required before every forum sanction, just that he didn't get one. It is fair that he brings it up.

I don't even know if I can vouch or object but I would like to mention a few things.
First of all, jwmphall was never formally warned, and he was right about that in his appeal.
Now I know this is a server rule and not a forum rule, but given that it is an idea we generally agreed upon to be a rule I think we should mention it:
j. Players are rightfully allowed to criticize the server and its staff, and will not be punished.
The forum posts that actually got him banned were criticizing the server and its staff. While some of the posts were somewhat useless and some were making personal attacks, I would disagree that the posts actually warranted an instant permban. On top of that, the senior admin responding to his post technically broke a forum rule in the exact same way immediately after in his reply. I understand that those posts were only part of his actions, as there were complaints about him being a "massive troll in game" mentioned on the permban list, but honestly he was never actually day banned for that more than once and that wouldn't warrant a server perm ban, let alone a forum permban at all. If I can, I vouch, because in my opinion there are too many issues with this ban for it to be a permban, and it's kind of in a gray area that should either be no ban at all or at most a tempban.

Not to be rude. But I would think you know you were an ex-telnet to know better, so you should also know that you can't just appeal about a week after you get banned.

While I see plenty of objections, I also don't see any evidence, although I suspect that there are threads in admin sections about this. I'm just confused because I expect a case in which an admin was both permbanned and forum banned to have some sort of public thread such as a permban request.
Basically, it's hard to form an opinion on this when all of the information is inaccessible when it really shouldn't be in a case like this.

You did not miss any related thread except the forum sanction request, for which we already have an open suggestion.

So he got banned becausr he was being some-what aggressive on the forums? Or am I missing something?
If that is indeed the case, then that same verdict should be applied to a big chunk of the forums.
