A rather arbitrary decision was made that a map reset is necessary for the evolution of the SMP server.
Vote please. If your answer is "maybe" with justification, just reply

No, I think the reset should be delayed till later in the year, perhaps June. I think we should only reset when people have done so much it's not fun anymore, otherwise it will just be annoying.

Hi, longtime ex-senior from 2012 here. Pardon my language, but choosing to not reset a SURVIVAL map just because admins had fun on it first knowing that the server wasn’t fully public yet is fucking stupid. That’s extremely unfair to the players and leaves a bad precedent to the already dying reputation of TF. If you really think it’s a good idea to not reset a survival map just cause a couple “privileged” staff members made stuff on it, then this server will die before it starts.

I dont see how people dont see that its unfair. Admins were allowed to make progress in builds and accumulate wealth. Ops were not until recently, and there's still a barrier with whitelisting. I understand that its unfair to the people who started not knowing that there would be a server wipe, but its more fair to everyone else who was not able to join.

It's actually pretty pathetic that you'd rather have an objective advantage over non admins than reset and lose progress. Survival is not competitive, but economies objectively are, the economy will start off completely unbalanced.

It isn't like the map is gonna run out of diamonds and stuff you are right but, I do want to point out that there is actually a limited amount of diamonds in a Minecraft world: If there are on average 3.097 Diamonds per chunk The Size of a Minecraft world Is 60,000,000m x 60,000,000m Thats means the surface area is 3,600,000,000,000,000 m(2) (Thats bigger than the surface area of earth) A Chunk is 16x16 So 256m(2) 3,600,000,000,000,000/256 = 14,062,500,000,000 Chunks In a world. Times that by 3.097 Diamonds Per chunk and you get 4.3551563e+13 Which is 43,551,563,000,000 Diamonds. The Answer is 43,551,563,000,000 Diamonds in an average Minecraft world. 43 Trillion Diamonds 4.8390626e+12 Dialmond blocks

I don't see why you guys can't just compromise and save schematics of your buildings and delete inventories while ensuring no abusive admin stashes a supply of wealth in a chest somewhere. When server gets wiped, paste schematics and boom you have your home. It's ridiculous to think it's fair for admins to hoard precious items like diamonds or enchanted goods while other players start the game disadvantaged; with nothing.

Besides, even if they could, wouldn't they also do it after the reset?

If the admins here have no integrity, then yes.
