If you're not qualified to be doing the role, then why are you still doing it? If you don't understand that backups and a rollback strategy are key before making changes on something that is "Operational" or "Live" then you frankly shouldn't have access to the server in the first place... This was one of the few benefits to Mark locking down Clanforge so very few people had FTP / enough access to do any real damage. you know what? you're not helping, either, so please stop. he gets it, it was a mistake, now we're working to fix it You know what though? It needs to be said. Because in a few days, or weeks or months people will continue to moan about how the server is laggy and crashing and unstable and generally a poor experience to play on. And instead of learning from mistakes, people here (Not just Robin) keep making the exact same mistakes over and over again. We should never have been in this position, because we have been in this / similar positions before, and instead of learning from those mistakes, this keeps happening.

Actually, 1.15 has had severe TPS issues and TPS is NOT affected by network speed.

It's absolutely within your control. Use a decent host instead of the cheap of the cheap... You're making excuses for poor decision making...

You are currently literally better of hosting this on a shitty ADSL line. Pretty much any decent hosting company would be better. OVH being one of the main ones out there, but there are plenty of good ones. As I recall TheCJGCJG even offered to host this all on AWS's enterprise Cloud compute platform at his own expense... There's literally so many options and you've just picked the absolute worst.

I did use to re-sell them a few years back but other than for shit like e-mail spamming the service and quality tended to be pretty shoddy overall...

It's not really a good thing when there's hostility & aggressiveness towards people that are literally just trying to provide advice to help the server. Would you rather put your head in the sand and not improve just for an epic libtard one-liner own against someone who is literally trying to help you or would you rather improve and take the advice of other people? So many problems can be avoided by actually *listening to people*. If the people in charge of system administration right now admit that they don't want to be doing that job because of a lack of experience, why not just ask somebody else for help? There isn't a vacuum of talent here; there are plenty of people here that can help but I'm sure as hell they won't want to if no attempt at reaching out other than "fuck off, we're working on it" is being made.
@creeperseth This is where some basic communication would be useful. Are we just going to put our heads in the sand until the player base decreases or are we going to make improvements based on the advice of others that are trying to assist the server? It's absolutely not a good thing that problems like this are continuing to occur.

Okay here's the thing that rattles my cage: people jumping to conclusions that the host is complete dog shit despite us not having almost no issues with 1.14. With any new thing like a game update it should be expected to have stability issues until I iron them out. If people would simply just look at that crash log you can find easily what the server hanged on. Some plugins are still not updated, while yes Robin could of waited, it really was runnable and everyone was pushing for 1.15. It's a small update. The only things they did was fix bugs and add bees. It wasn't like other updates like 1.13. TL;DR: Stop jumping the "shit host train" every single time a small amount of instability happens, especially when we just have a version update. The server was stable in 1.14. The "hostility" is from people getting fed up with people instantly blaming the host.

My entire issue here was that basic best practice was not followed, and it fucked us... That was my point from the start, and the only point I've tried to make. If the hosting is fine, then there is no excuse for this sort of crap, the server should be stable and we should be treating it as what it is, a live service to people, not a playground for dev testing and all that shit.
