I stand by the original reason it was banned, it's often near impossible to read. I don't see why we should change something for the sake of it to be honest. If you actually need to see the person's name, it's not hard at all. Just look at a bright background (a wall, the sky, etc) and the name will be easy to read

I think it should remain blocked...

I vouch on letting ops use all color code except &n. &k would be fine as long as it isn’t too much plus admins have cmdspy to check on nicks. I used to have &0 all the time on my nick before and literally no admin has ever cared so it was rly weird that y’all complaining that it’s impossible to read. Lastly &n ruins the text at the bottom making it impossible to read. (I also suggest on restricting special characters that can be achieved using hack clients on nicks cuz they look ugly)

It's way over the top to block it when all it costs is a few seconds

It really just takes a few seconds (at most you have to teleport somewhere bright, basically anywhere with a view of the sky) and those few seconds don't cost much at all. Griefers will be rollbacked, etc

What's the point? So we just keep the rule for the sake of keeping it as it was? That was not at all what I said... You're making the change of a rule to make a minor quality of life improvement to the OP's but a significant inconvenience to the admin team. And for the record, it does make a significant difference if you're banning something new or upholding an existing ban. This has been the status quo for a reason, it's not like I'm suggesting you change that or that people will have new rules to remember, I'm suggesting not changing something so as not to impact the admins, when I don't actually think many OP's even give a monkeys about it being unblocked other than for trolling...

Impact the admins? It's not hard for us at all to adapt, I notice that with every change, the admins are usually educated about it in a conversation that lasts a minute. And your assumption about the ops isn't accurate at all, you seem to think that ops will jump at every single opportunity they are given to troll, no matter how minimal. You don't exactly seem connected with the server as what you say doesn't line up at all with my experience over the last week, last month, last year.

if theres a giant issue then just use /nc...? Even better, just look in Discord in #server-chat? Then smite or warn the user as needed? i dont see why it shouldnt be allowed here

I can only give my personal view based on my personal experiences on this server and other servers. My view still stands, I think this is a pointless and low-impact change that would not give a net benefit here.

I don't smite players that use the blacklisted colours or &k if their username/nick is visible, but when they are using different characters/fonts/etc. and if there nick really isn't visible (for ex, an all-black nick), I'll smite for that. I vouch for allowing players to use the blacklisted colors and stuff, but only if there nick/username is clearly visible if I need to do /realname - because the last thing I want to do if there is someone running around trolling is trying to pick out who the player in the chat is even though it's right in front of me.
