My Minecraft FPS without shaders is about 60 and my FPS with shaders activated is about ten. As we know shaders does need a lot of GPU power so I am replacing my integrated trash one (Intel graphics 630) with a Geforce GTX 1060. I found a deal on a 1060 but it only had 3GB of ram. The price is pretty good so I am inclined to make the purchase but then I thought to myself "Maybe I need more ram" while I feel like the 3GB would work decently I don't want to buy a GPU that wouldn't be powerful enough for what I want. Should I switch to a 6GB or settle? (When It comes to technology I am still kind of an idiot and still testing the waters. I may have worded something completely wrong or giving you useless information. Just remember that I am still learning about this stuff. Thanks again!)

I'd go with the 6 GB unless you can't afford it. 3 GB really isn't enough IMO, unless you're just using it for MC. The 6 GB one should do well in most games at 1080p or lower resolution.

I think I will only truly be using it for Minecraft (unless I find another game) but like I said up there I will be using it with shaders.

I think the 6gb version is like $20 more right? Its worth it to go with a little bit more head room
Also Minecraft is really cpu intensive, if you want more fps invest in a cpu with good single core performance

If you spent some time, you'd probably find a 6GB for a really good price. 3GB won't be enough, especially in the long term if you decide to play other games so I say you should probably go for the 6GB.

If you are able to afford it, 6gb is the best choice. Shaders uses alot of it I also suggest searching some FPS improving plugins or disabling some particles
