The Problem
I recently, for the past 3 months or so, have been having problems with my memory disk on my laptop. I have a disk that can hold up to 111 GB but this is not enough. As time has passed, the disk space continues to fill up and is now at a point that could cause harm since I have about 6 GB left.
What I Have Done
Since this problem started, Iv'e done a few basic things. First, I deleted most of the programs that I don't use. This let my computer live on for about a month. Next, I started removing things that I actually use. This has last me to this point. Now, I have nothing to delete that is a big program(100 MB +) besides things that I mainly use. The things I use are not very big programs either. I have tried cleaning up my disk which only gave me 2 GB. I don't know why my disk keeps filling up as time passes but I'm guessing it's just what computers do.
What I Can Do
I have two options. Either buy a new hard drive/external hard drive, or factory reset my computer.
1. Buying a hard drive/external hard drive is not exactly something that I want to do. It costs money and I would like to transfer my data over to the new hard drive which will probably also cost money to get someones help to do so. I'm also not sure how to install a hard drive into my laptop if I wanted to do it myself.
2. Factory resetting my computer I think will fix my storage problem also. I however will probably loose some things that I want. So far, I have downloaded all the files that I want onto my flash drive besides Word, Power Point, Excel, and Publisher. I would like to convert these over to my flash drive but I can't find the file location. I'm not sure if I will be able to find it since it might block copying onto a flash drive for duplication reasons.
Questions
What do you think I should do? Option 1, 2, or another option if possible. Will I be able to save the files Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher if I do a factory reset? Will factory resetting a computer actually fix a storage problem? Will factory resetting a computer mess it up and make in unable to be used?
