You're all still welcome to the free server I offered back when this all came up the first time when Windows went AWOL... I've managed to run a hosting company since 2013 without any extended periods of outage so the offer is there if you just want a free decent server... The only problem with this is that you would be both the effective and literal owner of the server if we were to go this route, whereas with whatever hosting company they're obviously a neutral third party.

This is exactly why discussing who's gonna be owner/host/run the server was such a pain in the ass back in January.

Well it depends, for as long as we don't control the DNS, we're not the owner really. I've no interest in being the owner of TF, I've got enough other projects to make me quite content with. I've just offered my expertise as an infrastructure engineer, something I've been doing as a career for a number of years now. As has been pointed out before, it's not who owns the MC server it's self that's the owner, but who the community recognize as the owner, along with who then owns the DNS. Seth could switch servers on a whim if he so chose and there wouldn't be anything I could do. Alternatively you can always buy a VPS from my hosting company. At which point you just get the benefits of being able to harass me personally should you have any issues

Normally we consider the owner to be the person who "pays the bills", you would be the owner in this case because you would be the only one here spending money (aside from Mark for the domain?) on our existence.

That's down to you guys, as I say, I'm happy to sponsor the server so it'll literally be free, in the same way I would sponsor other servers historically for SN. It's an offer, and it's an offer to even administrate and sys admin the server. I am happy to be as involved, or not involved as Seth & the community are happy with. As I say, it's just an offer. I am happy to give Seth a server and he can do what he wants (As I have before as an option for when they've had server issues), or I'm happy for Seth to run the day-to-day and I would look after the server and such from a sys admin perspective.
