The last time we did this, it went horribly wrong because of a lack of planning beforehand. When you vote, do not based your vote off "oh but history" Base it off of the current problems with proboards. This poll does not determine what we'll switch to, that is for another poll if the majority votes to switch. Video sums it up: - ProBoards is not secure at all
- Those damn divs ruin proper formatting
- Everything runs on one server; this has been demonstrated in 2017 when someone blasted the forums with a DDOS attack and ended up taking the entirety of ProBoards offline by accident
- VigLink tracker
- Image links containing spaces don't work
- Outdated as hell
- Storage limit
- Advertisements that the forum owner (or someone) needs to pay in order to get rid of ads for everyone else
- Mobile does not display forum themes correctly
- A maze of an admin panel
- 2FA (An extra layer of security that would prevent many account breaches) is impossible

No, there is currently not a single problem with proboards, and there is not a thing that we need that proboards does not have.

What problems are we experiencing with ProBoards other than the mild inconvenience that is the Cloudflare browser check? I have never seen a post complaining about a certain forum feature being missing.
For that, we will be giving up the certainty that technical issues on the most important platform we have will be fixed quickly and moving absolute power away from a neutral third party towards people with a stake in the discussion.

It's old, nothing has really changed much for the last 5 years, and it's time we migrate to something new. It's going to be a long process switching over if the poll goes through, and a lot more discussion has to take place before it's set in motion.

Absolutely not. I don't trust anybody on here to maintain a forum anywhere near as well as ProBoards, an actual company, has. I don't want to reiterate every single reason that I spouted last time this was attempted, but if I have to I will make a thread compiling all of them.

There's some problems for you."ProBoards is not secure at all" Citation needed, because I can guarantee you with 100% assurance that anything we switch to ran by any of us will be exponentially less secure. "Those damn divs ruin proper formatting" Not entirely sure what this means. I have noticed BBCode get glitched this year but it seems like that might be caused by us and regardless can be fixed and doesn't even warrant being a variable in this. If you are referring to what I just said then it doesn't even prevent proper formatting. "Everything runs on one server; this has been demonstrated in 2017 when someone blasted the forums with a DDOS attack and ended up taking the entirety of ProBoards offline by accident" So what are you proposing? You want to switch to a self-hosted forum and pay for several cloud servers because of one thing that happened in 2017 that is no longer relevant and has been resolved? "VigLink tracker" VigLink is nasty but a necessary evil for a free forum. I'm pretty sure all you have to do is give ProBoards some money for this forum and then it disappears along with CloudFlare interruptions. Still not major enough to constitute abandoning the platform we've used for the past 7 years. "Image links containing spaces don't work" This is very dumb to even be a variable in us moving away from ProBoards. There are millions of websites you can do to reupload images. Literally just take the 5 seconds to go to imgur, reupload the same image, and link it. "Outdated as hell" This is vague and means absolutely nothing on its own value. "Storage limit" Fair, but again something that can be resolved with exponentially less money than switching from ProBoards. Also not a major problem because we have always worked around it and nobody uses attachments. "Advertisements that the forum owner (or someone) needs to pay in order to get rid of ads for everyone else" I'm pretty sure to my knowledge anybody is able to donate to a forum such as this and that itself gets rid of ads and cloudflare interruptions. Again, exponentially less money and effort than moving away. "Mobile does not display forum themes correctly" This has less to do with ProBoards and more to do with the people who designed our personal themes and if you want to talk about themes that would be a problem on any other forum platform. We would lose all of the themes that people are accustomed to, and if they are replaced with versions catered to a new forum, they would also have to be changed to be mobile-friendly. "A maze of an admin panel" Honestly no clue what this means. "2FA (An extra layer of security that would prevent many account breaches) is impossible" If you literally need 2FA to prevent a breach then that's an individual problem because who in 2019 is using the same password for every website. 2FA is not security, it's an intelligence safety net. Anyways this is all I wanted to type in response with limited time but if this becomes a thing then expect a lot of responses to me, and I will compile a megathread in the future

Everyone has got to realize how much WORK that has to take place in order for all of us to fully move to the new forums. It's really unnecessary especially with the problems being so minor. We also have got to realize that if we do end up moving to a new forums, we're probably more likely to encounter more or worse problems. We've all gotten so used to proboards too. I don't think we should be changing forums.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
There is nothing wrong with ProBoards aside from any "theme issues" you might have. Unless you can find someone to build, host, maintain and update a forum/website reliably, it would be insanity to try to switch to anything else. We would need so much content remade, reposted, moved and archived in case the inevitable happens.
If you can find someone to make it, AND host it, with no issues for I'd say at least 90 days with no hiccups, I say go for it. Otherwise, it would be a very unwise decision to move. Even if you do move, it will (should) take around 6-9 months minimum of no/minimal downtime as well as overload testing before a serious decision is made.

Those damn divs ruin proper formatting Maybe a bit off-topic, but I hadn't realized this was a general problem, because I know what you're talking about. I've spent the past half an hour finding some seemingly nonsensical word replacement rules that should from now on automatically remove all of them without breaking formatting.

I can do it myself it isn't hard "I can do it myself" is nowhere remotely near an appropriate answer for something that would forever change the reality & history of this server. I'm pretty disappointed with the misleading slant in the original post, and I won't be surprised if the poll answers are biased due to it.
