I'm currently on Windows 7. Support is ending relatively soon (next year). I want to be prepared when support ends. My two options are to: stay on Windows 7 or upgrade to Windows 10. I don't think I really have any concern for the minor security fixes, but when something huge happens that can easily affect a lot of people, Windows 7 wont be protected. If I upgrade to Windows 10 LTSC, I get Windows 10 but without the bloatware (still telemetry though). I was wondering if there were any downsides to running LTSC. The only differences are apparently no Microsoft Store or Cortana (which is good). However Microsoft is against people running LTSC, and I don't know if it would be a good option for a normal user who doesn't want the bloatware or bugged out feature updates. I just need my Steam games (I don't think they wouldn't work), IntelliJ, the Office suite and Creative Cloud apps to work. I don't think that will be an issue. I'd have to clean install so what do you think? I'm leaning to upgrade to LTSC (fuck the Home/Pro versions) but irdk

Why don't you just upgrade to the regular Windows 10 but download some of the applications that allow you to choose which telemetry/cortana bullshit you want to disable like W10Privacy?
I'm planning on doing this one day myself, the only problem I have is the minimalist pander theme and how Windows 10 does not allow advanced theme support like earlier versions.

Buggy feature updates. The programs you mentioned don't do shit. Personal experience as a previous windows 10 owner

Try (finding) one and let me know how incredibly well it works. Works for me, but I'm not a reliable source of whether it works or not because that's only to the extent of which Windows 8.1 has the same telemetry features. I'm not sure what you want me to say unless you show me how they don't work.

Some of em come with malware also

There are a lot of tools to help you deal with telemetry and bloatware. The problems that you will have with LTSC are a big price to pay for only two major concerns. You can also get Home and Pro for free with the trial version. The trial version lasts forever, the only major difference between paid and trial is not being able to change the background through the Windows settings app.
