Mojang has just announced that they are making parts of the Java Edition source code public in the form of libraries under the MIT license. Two libraries are already public, more will be coming in the future. One of the parts being considered is Minecraft's rendering engine, which would be very valuable. The currently released libraries were already being used internally in 1.13, so we will probably be able to preview unreleased ones in upcoming snapshots. While this is not a modding API, it is definitely interesting and could also be very useful. Brigadier, Minecraft's command handler: github.com/Mojang/brigadierDataFixerUpper, Minecraft's built-in world converter: github.com/Mojang/DataFixerUpperThe libraries come with a Maven repository and everything, so it does look like they are committing to it. I like the direction this is going, especially with the MIT license. Mojang is directly supporting the open source community this way.
