Steven has already said that we can’t lose the restart. The suggestion does not suggest that we should obliterate the idea of having a 2 hour restart. I'm suggesting that it should get a little bit longer. Imagine a player online for like 8 hours (im on the computer for like 10 hours so i know how it feels.), they have to login again every 2 hours, which would be annoying. Extending the restart would make it less annoying for such players.

I’ll state my opinion now. I object, the reason being is because Steven has already said that we can’t lose the restart. We can maybe change it to 4 hours, but if you haven’t noticed the server gets quite laggy every 2 hours. We should also have some form of help for players on how to save builds. OFT: kunochan, I’m very sorry about my hostile behaviour. Recent things you’ve threatened me with are affecting my view of you. Oh, first you insult me, then argue with me, and now you are telling me I am THREATENING you? Holy fuck dude, I swear to god, if you continue, I won't be able to be nice any longer.

Why do we auto-restart anyways? Steven said something about Java being filled with data and then it goes laggy it was all confusing stuff hold on let me find the thread So there's a memory leak on the server? Sounds like something that needs fixing rather than having to restart the server every 2 hours.

Instead of arguing about how long should the restart occurs, let's find a way to FIX the issue that makes this restart so necessary rather than having the problem but argue over when to restart

Sounds like something that needs fixing rather than having to restart the server every 2 hours. I have never measured a memory leak on the server, but it's the only valid reason we could have been doing restarts until now. A big Java program like Minecraft probably leaks a small bit even if you don't do anything crazy. Instead of arguing about how long should the restart occurs, let's find a way to FIX the issue that makes this restart so necessary rather than having the problem but argue over when to restart
Good idea StevenNL2000 What is the problem? The problem is Java itself. Normally, information that is no longer needed (e.g. the location of a zombie that is now dead) is deleted to free up memory. However, if the information is not deleted properly for any reason, it will stay in memory forever unused. This is known as a memory leak, and Java is notorious for them. If you don't do anything about them, they will accumulate and eventually take up so much memory that the actual server can't run anymore. It's not possible to track down and eliminate memory leaks because they consist of information not used by anything, so nothing is keeping track of where we can find it either. The only possibility left is to completely redo the memory assigned to the Java program, and since the server is running in the Java program, we need to restart the server.

Does this mean we can change the time to 4 hours? I can tell you without looking that we don't have memory leaks so bad that we need to restart every 2 hours, because we would have noticed by now. Every 4 hours is most likely still redundant.

Even larger servers can run for days without restarting.

Every 4 hours is most likely still redundant. Why not something like eight hours then? It seems reasonable to me, three restarts a day.
