I've been interested in getting into the Minecraft development area and after looking through the developer's board I can't seem to see any definitive place where you guys learnt all your Minecraft magic. Can anyone help me out?

I could help you out, although it’s currently 5 am and I still haven’t slept. I’ll talk to you sometime soon if you don’t find someone else.
Also I learned from JimmehPlays and PogoStick29 (or some other number)

No. Code academy is absolute shit. Your best bet for learning Java is by watching TheNewBoston's old ass Java tutorials on YouTube, after that I then learned Bukkit, I do not recommend learning Java while learning Bukkit.

It is only $10.99 in U.S. dollars or about 8.10 quid. That " 200" is just way of getting customers to think that this course is normally 200 it is on sale, which is really isn't. For these kind of courses, the highest I've seen is like $50

I recommend watching PogoStick29’s tutorials, which can help you start off coding with Bukkit.
After watching a few of Pogo’s tutorials and practicing it, you should watch Jordan Osterberg’s Java and Bukkit tutorials which will help you learn Bukkit Coding and Java faster.

Jokes aside people here will tell you to "learn Java first then learn Bukkit". This is a proper thought, and probably a lot more efficient, but its a load of shit from an enjoyment perspective.
Take this advice, find a thing you want to make, and find out how to make it. Not much harder than that. Feel free to copy and paste code however much you want, its for private use anyways! Learn how basic Bukkit plugins are built and practice for an hour a day or more. (the more the merrier!) Don't get hooked on one project, once you think its not fun anymore feel free to just drop it and start with something new.
If you need any help please don't hesitate to contact me at Mafrans#5322, I'll do what I can! (And im online unhealtily often)

The new boston on YouTube is who I used to learn the basics of Java, and I'd start there. Then I personally just tinkered with plugins to get an understanding of the Bukkit API and what is is capable of.

Thanks guys for all the advice, I'll definitely take a look at all the links and names you gave me. Out of curiosity though, would you suggest I learn java then go into Bukkit, or jump straight into Bukkit and learn on the way? Thanks again.

Again I can't speak from experience, but I would say you should learn Java before going into Bukkit. I think it would make it easier.
